Newby here

Hi everyone, brand new here. This might just be the answer to my prayers😂
I’ve a 4 year old maltipoo and he’s never been left with anyone but me or my husband. We both travel a lot for work so always need to schedule our travels around Charlie.
We have a beautiful guesthouse on the Tuscany border of Umbria in Italy and its idyllic, a little paradise.
Sitters will stay in my own home which is near the guesthouse and I’m also happy to let them stay a few extra nights in the guesthouse when I return as a thank you (if I have availability).
We’re in the wilderness on 17 acres of olive groves with wild animals for neighbours and a beautiful medievil unspoiled by tourists town only 3 kilometers away.
I’ve just posted my first listing for 4 days in mid August and hoping this is going to be a new chapter with my work and for travel. Hoping to meet someone in the area but open to people coming from abroad too.
Any advise from long term users appreciated
Thanks
Shirls

Hi @Shirls
That sounds wonderful and I think you’ll be swamped with applications.
Not sure what you mean by your last sentence.

I found the listing, and of course something like this is in “Reviewing status” right away! Even such short stays.

You should know that the system does this when five applications have come in. You can decline the ones that are not suitable for you, but then you need to unpause to get more applicants. With a listing like this, you can be very selective.

Sounds lovely, we’d definitely be interested for longer periods

Hi, Shirls, and welcome! Your listing looks great as is, the only thing I’d maybe consider adding is how long Charlie could be left alone (and never is an okay answer for a sit like this one, because it’s going to be high-demand even if the sitter has to take Charlie with them whenever they leave) and whether he expects to sleep in bed with the sitter. That’s fine with many sitters, but some it wouldn’t be, and with a high-demand sit like this one, you don’t want to miss out on a perfect sitter who misses the five-day cutoff or to waste your time with sitters who would balk at it.

Ah and yes. I did put a pic of him last night. The bed is 200X200 and he’s small so yes, I allow him in bed and wouldn’t want a sitter who didn’t like that
Thanks

Thanks for the advise. I think I did put never as he’s never been left alone but he also doesn’t need to be walked as he’s running around all day outside :joy:

I was asking for advise from long time users since it’s my first time. You’ve all been great. Thanks

Thanks, it’s been a stressful 24 hours actually having to decline lovely people, but I’ve FaceTimed and found a lovely lady who’s only a 2 hour drive away. I don’t have availability for her first night and we leave early next day so I’ve booked her a hotel nearby. Thanks for all the advise guys. It’s so lovely here

Unfortunately @Shirls - sitters can’t see the section of the listing- where you state how long your pet can be left alone for - it’s not your fault- the program is misleading as owners rightly assume that all of this information that they input when creating a listing is visible to sitters .

Be sure to clarify with your chosen sitter asap that your dog can’t be left alone ever - as they won’t have seen this in the listing and if you’ve not discussed this with them they may assume that he can be left alone for several hours a day.
