We are currently in Lagos in the Algarve, Portugal and discovered this beautiful beach called Praia do Camilo.
To get to Praia do Camilo, you have to descend a long wooden staircase of approximately 200 steps that makes for an incredible picture. The stairs allow you to access the beach safely, but it does require a bit of an effort!
Praia do Camilo is a stunning beach and the sand is lovely and soft and it consists of two small beaches that are connected through a cave hole tunnel. The tunnel can be found on the left part of the beach. The rock formations of Ponta da Piedade protect Camilo beach against waves from the southwest.
This is why the sea here is very calm . In addition, the sea is quite shallow and the water is not too cold! The sea here is also exceptionally clean. The water has a superb green colour and is almost transparent
If you are in the area, you must visit this stunning beach!
@Amparo I even managed to find my name in the rocks here!
@Samox24 You take some of the most amazing pics and the way you describe the locations makes me feel like I am almost there with you!
Our trip in December is planned for Madeira, Portugal and we plan to add all the areas you have shown us. It is just so beautiful…I cannot wait to start our exploration. We have been to Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra, Nazarette as well as other nearby areas, but have not been to those beautiful beaches you have described.
Keep sending pics so we can live vicariously through you!
Hi @Samox24 it’s pretty well all been said … I just love your travelogues and being taken along for the ride, although I’m sure that sea temp would have me running for the nearest hot tub. There are some things that I can take a rain check on, cold water is one
@Amparo, thanks for starting this amazing thread. Makes me want to go Portugal.
Bummer: I had to decline a speaking engagement there when Covid still made me wary. In normal circumstances, I accept such invites and then tack on extra time to sightsee.
