Portugal!

Tell me everything you know!
Who’s been? Who’s going?
Who lives there? (hint hint)
For me this is an exploratory trip. Have done lots of research online but now it’s time to create my own experiences and would love to hear your insight.

Intend to go to Porto, Coimbra, and obviously Lisbon. Faro? :dancer:
Almost forgot, who needs me?

Hello Amparo,
I just know Lisbonne. It is a beautiful and very pleasant city. The food is very tasty there. I was in Lisbonne for Christmas 3 years ago ((for a cat sitting).
It is easy to get aroid by bus, metro and tram and on foot.
It’s true that we find everything on line, lot of ideas.
Enjoy your trip to Portugal

Muito Obrigada!
Thank you!

I stayed 5 weeks in Porto, house sitting, absolutely loved it! (There are more and & more house sits available on THS in Porto) It is very hilly, so flat shoes! Stayed 1 week in Coimbra, very nice city too, 2 days is enough if you’re just visiting.
And Lisbon is one of my favourite cities! Visited twice.

Faro is ok for a day if you’re in the area, combine it with a visit to Tavira, a lovely little town in the Algarve
Enjoy!!

Thanks @Els! I’m looking…there is one sit I like but off by one day!

I went to an awesome yoga/surf retreat in Ericera. It was lovely and had a surf school taught by a world renowned female surfer, Johanna.
The Portuguese city, Sintra, looks like it comes out of a fairy tale. They say that Disney fell in love with one of the castles and built his Disney castle based on it. The architecture is amazing.
The cost of living is very affordable for Europe too.
I would definitely go back. I didn’t see nearly enough of the country.

I have heard and seen incredible videos about Ericera.
Thank you.

Hi @Amparo. I traveled a bit through Portugal many years ago, but more importantly am planning on flying into Porto on February 6 and traveling for about three weeks with a friend. Unless, of course, things get too out of hand with the virus. Perhaps we could meet up if we overlap.
Good luck finding sits!

I stayed for awhile in Portugal and loved the little town of Sintra on the north side of Lisbon - easily accessible by train. Stayed in a house there where not much English was spoken, so we conversed in French (as I knew little Portuguese). We hiked up to the Moorish castle - and it was one of the best days ever - took a lunch of fresh bread, cheese, and port - all purchased in small Sintra shops, and then hiked past that castle to the palace on the top of mountain (hill?). Walked around Sintra, had great meals of local cod and potato dish, bought some pottery, visited some art galleries, admired ceramic tiles. Just a lovely time. Want to go back!!

I am trying to travel there to explore June. Please give ideas after you visit.

Absolutely. I’m going late March into April. I have sits in the UK but looking at going back in May and possibly July to explore as much as possible.

If I have nothing to do in July, I can join you.

Wouldn’t that be great :blush::kissing_heart:

I’m sure you’ve already searched but here’s a link to another post on Portugal and do remember our lovely @Therese is currently living there. I’m sure she will be able to give you some great advice (when the busy holiday period is over  )

Popping this link here anyway in case others stumble across this thread.
Have a lovely day researching!!

If you have any questions … please let me know and if I can, I would be happy to guide you.
I’m in Cascais, which is a seaside town outside Lisbon. Warm regards Therese

THAT would be amazing and as someone who can attest to the magic of anything is possible, I look forward to it.
Thank you.

Permission to guide me granted! Thank you @Therese I was hoping you would chime in here.
Still working out some details and submerged in my own research as I do my best to be independent but you know sometimes you get by “with a little help from my friends”
Obrigada. I will be in touch.
