Hi, everybody! I am not a member yet, but I am interested in pet sitting.
Can anyone tell me whether is possible to become a member, but not for an entire year, but only for two months? If that’s possible, could I pay the proportional price for two months?
Best wishes!
In short, no, that option is not available.
Welcome @KarinaLR the minimum is a year’s subscription. We joined last year and just had a fantastic weeks holiday on a house sit in a popular Holiday location in the U.K. . To rent a much smaller place or stay in a hotel in the same location would have cost >£1000 . So financially we easily saved the cost of membership just from that one week stay . We also had the company of two great dogs that came with us on our trips to the beaches and coastal walks. We could cook at home saving the cost of eating out .
Even if you are only going to be house sitting for a couple of months the annual membership is worth it . Plus you need to be a paid member when you search and confirm sits so that would need to be in place before the months that you actually want to do the house sitting .
For example many homeowners are already listing their sits for this spring and summer and they will be confirming their sitters now .
So if you are thinking of joining you need to join asap and start applying for some sits .
Hi there
May I asked why you would want a 2 month membership? Less than an annual membership?
But no…THS does not have a monthly membership cancel anytime option.
It’s just an annual membership and fee with a sitter only membership OR a combined membership where you are a sitter and a home host.
An option to save money - for our first year, we got a free ‘Homeowner’ membership for a year through a scheme at work, then because we were members, we were offered a half price upgrade to add on ‘Sitter’ membership, so yay! We never intended to list our home, but I had hoped that by being members we’d get an offer, and we did! For our second year we change the membership to ‘Sitter’ only, and paid the full price for Premium, because as was said above - it’s still cheaper than accommodation fees.
So I’d check to see if there’s any discount schemes available through your work or other connections. Props to TH for doing this - we’re in for the long haul now!
The reason is that I am unemployed at the moment.
Thanks everyone!
@KarinaLR gotcha. I wondered if you were planning a particular trip at some point, as I would have shared some thoughts on that.
There is a 20% discount out there on the web that could help, last I checked the sitter membership was $89.00 USD.
Yes, @HelloOutThere , I am going on a trip for
Europe, but only for two months!
In Brasil, $ 89,00 es equal to more than 500 reais (local money). That’s why it is more difficult to me.
Membership businesses like THS usually avoid prorated memberships, because it makes their revenue hard to predict, which makes them much less valuable as a company to investors or on stock markets. So it’s unlikely that they’d offer such memberships — they’re not worthwhile from a business perspective.
Indeed @KarinaLR.
Sometimes trying to make specific arrangements back to back seamlessly for two months via THS is not fool proof for many ressons and having plan B’s or flexibility would be paramount; mostly exchanges go well but sometimes not and you’d have to be adaptable.
Also, sometimes new sitters have a struggle getting sits in popular locations.
Also, sometimes having a holiday and pet/home care is not always the most compatible.
Just some thoughts for you
But overall, I get your interest in THS as an option.
Thank you all for the feedback!
Without knowing your circumstances please take care! Without premium membership you don’t get any financial help if an owner cancels on you so you could end up having to pay accommodation costs. That’d be awful if you were stuck in Europe with no money for a hotel or to change your flight home. Owners do cancel sometimes and they won’t always try to help you out. Like I said I don’t know your circumstances so maybe you have family out there. But definitely think through the options. If it’s your one big trip to Europe too it might not work to be looking after pets all the time, it does really change the experience and makes it feel more like youre a local for a bit rather than seeing all the big ticket tourist attractions
I can’t afford yearly membership. Whole reason I was interested in this app to make extra money while waiting on my SSD decision. Guess I Was misled:disappointed:

Where did you learn about TrustedHousesitters ? It does seem you were mislead since no sitters on this platform make any money money .
