If an HO confirms someone, is there automatic declines sent out? It is 2 days to a sit i applied to in Atlanta. I can wait since hotels are declining in price but it would be nice to know one way or another. I told her i couldn’t get there until mid afternoon, so i expected to be declined or used as last choice. But wondered if that eas was part of the app. Auto declines when a sit is confirmed?
Yes, can’t believe you’re still on about that one! It must be your 4th or 5th mention about this situation. If they wanted you(or anyone else for that matter) to sit for them, they would have acted faster. They probably got a neighbour to step in and forgot to take down their listing. Stop thinking about it, you’re wasting mental energy.
If they have applicants and it is two days to the sit, why wouldn’t they have a sitter by now?
Scenarios
- Trip is cancelled
- Bring the pet on trip
- Found sitter off platform
- Booked kennel
- Agreed a THS sitter but hasn’t officially confirmed on platform
And 6., don’t have pet anymore.
Would say the host reaching out now is unlikely, and if they did, probably flaky host.
Per @Silversitters under another thread:
Add a Valentines Day split up to that list!
Given what you expressed frustrations about in another thread- I think if the HO hadn’t responded by now to you… they likely aren’t. Move on. Likely a red flag for you, or not a match for whatever reason and they just haven’t hit decline, found other arrangements and didn’t close the listing. Annoying yes… but time to move on… it doesn’t sound like this sit that might be convenient but maybe starting off being so annoying even confirming, is for you. Just book a hotel.
My questions, in case you missed it, is there an automatic decline once a confirmation is done.
This was answered by @Carla in another post. I think it is the answer to your q
So you’re saying, there’s a chance?
Which was what we have answered for you. Sheesh
Here is maybe where the disconnect is:
YES, there is an auto-decline once another sitter is confirmed.
HOWEVER, the auto-decline only happens when another sitter from among the THS applicants is confirmed. It’s not magic. If the host decided to cancel the trip and didn’t bother to cancel the listing, there is no auto confirm. If the host got a sitter from anywhere other than THS there is no auto confirm. Hence, there are some scenarios where a host will never confirm a sitter for a sit and never contact sitters and there will be no auto-decline.
As people have tried to explain, the likelihood of an application sitting there and a host “confirming” two days before a sit is extremely unlikely for many reasons. You also would be under no obligation to do the sit as you would need to confirm that you still want the sit.
I just wanted to know. anyway, another sit, miraculously came up for the same time in Atlanta. She is calling me shortly. and she is cool me coming mid afternoon.
Seems to have worked out.
glad I did not follow your advice and book the hotel. Especially since I bought tires today.
Glad it worked out; you seemed to be struggling. Good luck, safe drive.
struggling? More obstinate about not paying for the hotel. And this other sit is better. They are leaving early evening, so I can easily make the drive. And leave early Sunday. The gods were listening.
You must have missed that part @Huronbase. You wouldn’t have been out anything.
Regardless, enjoy your new tires
I didn’t miss it. I just don’t like it.
Well, it could have been easily missed as you posted about the same matter across a few threads. If you say you didn’t miss it, I will choose to believe what you say.
I just don’t like booking hotels and then canceling. I would rather wait if prices are coming down. I had to chase down a deposit at an extended stay, which they assured me had been refunded. A week later I had to call and they said someone forgot to press the button. On the road I choose places with full fridges, not often the best.
