Bit of positivity for the forum! Posted listing yesterday morning, had an application yesterday afternoon, talked to her just now, sit confirmed!
Usually takes me a few weeks as we are not a high-demand area and the applications trickle in slowly. I’ve always found someone good, but not instantly and never spoiled for choice. Very happy with this person and absolute delighted it’s all done and dusted.

I think as you get more and more positive reviews, you’ll find experienced sitters with great reviews will be more inclined to apply to your listing.
It works the same for sitters. Happily, these days I have near-instant replies and invitations to sit. Many of my sits are repeats, including a wonderful sit Christmas 2025.
It just gets better and better. I’m so grateful to all the experienced sitters and HOs who provided tips I followed to seek out really great situations!

It must be very frustrating to be kept waiting when you’re trying to plan! I think it’s a different ballgame for pet parents in very high demand areas who get multiple applications straightaway and have to make choices- for me, as soon as I get one good applicant, I don’t wait for more, I grab them!

It’s a function of where we are rather than our reviews I think- it’s a not particularly exciting rural area with no public transport and sitter needs a car. Even though our reviews are excellent, our pool of sitters will always be just that bit smaller than in more high-profile and accessible areas. But we’ve always got a sitter, and they’ve always enjoyed their stay. Glad things are flowing nicely for you.
