Why has the window to lleave a review closed so quickly. This is the SECOND time a host has been locked out of leaving me a review! Please extend the window! Please also let me know how my most recent host can get back in to leave me a review. Thanks kindly!
Eh, if this is a problem for you, a couple of days after the THS notification goes out you could send the owner a message. Hereâs an example of one I sent a few months ago to a couple who were a bit slow:
âHello! Hope you had a nice weekend and [dog name] is enjoying having you home When you have time, would you mind please writing me a review on trusted house sitters? Yours was my second sit, so it would be very helpful for me. Thank you so much!â
If thatâs ineffective and you get to day 12 after the sit, you could send another reminder to the effect of:
âHi again, just wanted to ask if you had time to do that review - I enjoyed hanging out with [name(s)] and feel like they felt the same! THS closes reviews after two weeks, so youâll need to do it tomorrow at the latest.â
No need to be shy about pushing them, some people just arenât on top of these sorts of things. Reviews are best when theyâre written fresh anyway.
@Lizindesun after 14 days itâs too late to leave a review - but all is not lost you can still send them a link to write you an external reference .
Hereâs how to do it
@Lizindesun the review window is 14 days. I would suggest you donât rely on THS sending the host a prompt to review- they may not look at the site again for a while if they have no other upcoming dates. We always send the host a âreview requestâ via THS the day after the sit finishes and we back it up with a WhatsApp message saying weâve sent the request and reminding the host of the 14 day window.
Once THS informs us the host has submitted their review we do our review for them. Otherwise, after a couple of days, we will prompt them again.
Keep on the case- reviews are important!
But if, on this case, you have missed the 14 day window the next best thing is to request a reference. And ask the host to mention it was an official THS sit but they missed the deadline for the official review!
Itâs really not too short @Lizindesun . The best time to post any review is when the sit experience is fresh in your mind as is the pet care. Youâll all remember more details that way. The THS auto reminders are a bit haphazard to be honest but as @Lokstar says, we send a âreview requestâ 24 hours after completion and if nothing comes after 4/5 days then a reminder to say âplease donât forgetâ. 40 sits in and so far so good. Ask for a reference in this instance as better than nothing. #14daysandcounting
I would add that the text can be really short. Like three or five words. There is no need for an exercise in literary composition.
Lol, I agree, I just operate in a particular kind of anglophone world where any request needs to be couched in some niceties.
I meant that the writer of the review may intend to write something really well-written. And then suddenly the deadline passed and it is too late.
It would be so much better when they quickly click all stars and just write âPerfect! Would love a repeat!â
So in the request I would mention that the text of the review can be really short. Make clear that the request is not much of an imposition.
