I hope it’s ok to post here, even though I’m a sitter…
I arrived at a sit today, but due to a flight cancellation, the HO unfortunately had to cancel her whole trip. On the app, it looks like there are several sits in the area that were seeking a sitter for today. After talking to a THS agent though, I’ve learned it isn’t possible to apply to a same-day sit; I can only apply to sits beginning tomorrow or later in the week (but there unfortunately are none beginning tomorrow, since today begins a holiday weekend).
I thought I would reach out here in case anyone online happens to need a sitter this weekend in the DMV area?
Just to check, I tried to apply to a sit today, and was able to open the application to apply. Have you tried? Is your initial sit cancelled snd the dates deleted?
If a listing has several dates, you can try to contact them on another set of dates.

that’s odd… yes, when I tap into the sit, it says they’re “not currently looking for a sitter” (even though the listing is showing in my search results with a date range starting today). that’s why I asked the agent when she was on the phone with me, and she said it isn’t possible. maybe the sit you checked is another timezone or something?

Do you have Premium membership ? It includes the Sit Cancellation Plan , which covers most of the cost of alternative accommodation when there’s a last minute cancellation.

I stayed in a booked room last night and found a sit beginning today for just a few days. then, this new HO said she’d like to extend her trip if possible (now that she has a sitter), so I’ve been able to get all of my dates covered (except that first night), and she’s able to get the full trip she wanted double-win! and what’s more, the dogs seem absolutely lovely, it’s in a great location in a neighborhood I haven’t explored yet, and the HO seems very welcoming
