Search locations much too wide

I’m struggling to narrow down search locations. I want sits in Manchester UK so I save the search and get notifications of new sits coming up in Wrexham, Liverpool and West Yorkshire.

Even the map in the app doesn’t always work properly on my phone, I tap on a Manchester sit on the map, and it zooms out to the whole of Europe and highlights another sit entirely.

Is there a easier way to find sits which actually ARE in Manchester?!

If you can use the web/desktop version, I’d strongly recommend using that.

You’re right, that’s better. The only down side is that notifications for sits I’ve favourited come in as links to that sit on the app, not to the website listing, and in the hour it takes to get on my main search, it’s often gone.

While I think about it, searching favourites would be so much better if the filter ‘currently seeking a sitter’ didn’t also include all those where the HO is reviewing!

Is there a workaround for that?

This is something that has been discussed several times here on the Forum, and a long time ago initially. Nothing has happened….so annoying!

I think your best bet is favoriting lots of listings in Manchester!

Just want to be sure that you are aware that you can search “Manchester” and then sort by distance. That should help a lot. At least the actual Manchester listings will be at the top of the list (as long as the Owners have been honest about their location).

In the USA, I find that searching by County is a great way to limit the area covered by a search, but it does not look like England has the same sort of standard divisions, and/or there is not the option to search by county.

Having the same issue. Very frustrating. I usually give up. TH need to do something about this.

I find this when I’m searching for Looe in Cornwall - it always produces results miles away but if you go in once the result show and choose ‘distance’ as opposed to recommended or newest you will get those in or closest to the search area.

I’ve experienced this too, and when searching if you view the map, it shows listings at the bottom, which when clicked are nowhere near where you are searching! It’s a basic function - to be able to search for a sit - that THS is failing at.

Is there a way to favourite sits that aren’t looking for a sitter? If I search ‘Manchester’ I only get sits that are looking for a sitter now

You search all Manchester @outdoorsy and then save any of them, live or otherwise and then they pop up later. You can also save the whole city for some set dates and then those will ping too when new sits come. #alerttastictime

I have just had a look. I searched “Manchester” and then sorted by Distance.

There are over 200 active listings that come up this way.

I scrolled through 18 pages of active listings, then get to the inactive listings. Good news is that the “Manchester” inactive listings are also sorted by “Distance.”

On the computer, not the app.

I’ve tried this but all that comes up are the ones looking for sitters, nothing at the end of that list
