New member and we would like to house sit in a particular city. Should our profile indicate where we want to be staying so that someone from that city can see us and contact us, or is there a way to have our true location but indicate we want sits from a particular city?

There isn’t two places, just the one, so yes you can put the location where you want to stay. But if I were you, I’d do the opposite at the start, and do a couple of short local sits first to get some reviews, with your actual location.
It’s because most HO’s don’t realise how the location part is titled for sitters. They incorrectly think it’s our home town, so if you apply for a place elsewhere and then the HO’s realise you aren’t actually in their location, then you could look dishonest in their eyes, with having no reviews to back you up. You only get one chance to make a good impression.
Also, if its a main tourist place you are after then you stand very little chance of success without reviews under your belt first.
