Shwmae from Aberystwyth, Wales!

Shwmae, or how d’ya do from Aberystwyth! I’ve left it a bit late to get going with TrustedHousesitters because we had expected a family friend to be available . But i’m really looking forward to using sitters in the future.

Could I have some advice on how to reach out sitters? How do I find out who might be interested in coming to Mid Wales to spend time at a tourist town, keeping eye on a lively older kitten

Shwmae to you too, @tamsin from a Barry girl who migrated to Canada many years ago. I still have family in the Merthyr and Barry areas and, except for the pandemic, visit regularly.

I’m trusting that you’ve already joined TrustedHousesitters. Your widest audience will always be the website, and the forum gives you some added exposure, but more importantly a network of forum members who can help you with specific questions.

You’ll see a spyglass for searching, and you can search keywords there and see posts on various topics. I’ll also add a link to Angela’s top 10 tips, as a quality listing is really important.

If you have an active listing you can embed it into your forum username. I’ll add the instructions here:

Adding your listing to your forum username/profile

Forum members are also helpful in providing constructive feedback, once they’ve had a chance to view it.

Finally … who wouldn’t want to visit Wales? Everyone should, but maybe I’m biased.

Be there on Friday, but I am very biased.
Prior to becoming a sitter I had never been and now it is one of my most fav places to visit.

If I weren’t already booked I surely would @tamsin!
Best wishes

Great pictures Amparo - there is certainly lots of sheep around Aber and lots of lambs in particular in the fields. Lovely to watch them jumping around. Talking of waterfalls there is a well known very high (for UK) waterfall close to Aber called Devil’s Bridge - at the end of a narrow gauge railway.
Anyway hope I’ve whetted a few people’s appetite
I welcome any feedback to my listing xx

Thank you so much Francine - I’ve embedded my active listing too. All the advice is much appreciated.

Hi @tamsin. I took a quick look at your listing and one thing I would suggest is you be more specific than ‘currently we don’t leave them together, alone, for long periods’. I’m guessing you don’t mean together in the same room, but can they be in the house but in different areas? Also, everyone has a different idea of what ‘long periods’ means. It’s better that you be more specific as sitters will want to know how long they can be away from the home, and where you leave the pets when you’re not home.

You live in a beautiful part of Wales @tamsin. My sister and I did a cat sit in Devil’s Bridge and loved that area. The narrow gauge railway trip into Aber was spectacular. Sorry we won’t be in the UK at the time of your sit.
