Sitter no show

I’m wondering if there’s a bit of confusion here: the OP wrote that her sitter didn’t show up, and a few Forum members asked her to specify whether the sit had even been OFFICIALLY confirmed/accepted with the “accept” button (no reply to this query). I am assuming this HO thought that the sitter had been officially confirmed since she was leaving for her trip the following day, however since she got another application at the same time as she was waiting for the sitter, this seems to indicate that it is not the case.
Since we don’t have any more details from the OP, it’s hard to know what went wrong.

Here we are not talking about a visit on the sitter’s part to meet the HO and the pets, in which case it’s understandable that the sit has not been confirmed yet.
In this instance, I agree with you that if the sitter’s plans have changed and they don’t want to meet anymore, it should be common courtesy to let the HO know.

I was responding to this persons very first post that states
"I was all set to meet with my sitter today and she was a no show. Hours went by and no call to explain what was up It’s been crickets…

I tried the number she gave me but no answer goes right to voice mail. Later I had another pet sitter request, then again crickets"

It does not matter if this person had not been confirmed, you set up an appointment to meet someone and you dont show and dont have the decency to let them know, I find that rude and unacceptable.

Yes, I’m referring to that post too.
As I have already said, since we don’t have any more information from the OP, we cannot know if the sitter even wanted to do the sit.
The house owner knows what day and time they would like a sitter to show up but if, for whatever reason, the sit was never confirmed on both sides, how can she expect the sitter to just show up?
To me, it’s the equivalent of a person who has been offered a job, they don’t accept it, but the boss still expects him to show up the first day. Maybe, during the interview, they seemed interested, and made noise to the effect that they would like to work there, but never officially accepted the position.

I think we all agree with you on that, even if we are not willing to “end the story” here.

Most people here were trying to understand the situation so that we could be able to help @SuzKnobel. After all, if you post something on a forum, you start some sort of conversation which you’re supposed to follow up a bit. @SozKnobel seemed a bit confused, the wording seems to suggest that they may not know how THS works or this forum.
“I want it reported” seems to imply someone in the forum should do it. I actually encouraged them to do it.

But I also advised that it had to be a sitting confirmed via THS. You can report people for breaking T&Cs regulated by a specific organization only if they belong to that organization and you certainly can’t report them for being rude.

When I said “End of story” I was not referring to this home owners “Story” or this situation. Just end of story that someone not showing up and no communication is unacceptable.

It is the responsibility of the HO to make sure on their site that the sit was confirmed.

If they failed to confirm, then that is their end of story.

(I now have a situation like that on another site where everything is very confused and woefully unclear. The HO has not taken down the ad for sit that we had agreed. Of course I will get in touch well before the sit. But I have come to appreciate the order on THS.)
