We have had a couple of applicants (that we’ve denied) that change their name/age/home location either while in the application process or after the application is denied due to weariness. They also had fake profile pictures that were very clearly from Google (literally took the photo and pasted it into Google and it showed up as a prompt/ad photo).
We have also had a sitter change their name/age/location after our sit is complete. They were definitely a real person… and seemed very sweet and genuine. But the changing of personal information (name/age) now has left us concerned… why would someone change their age to be 18 years younger…?
read these threads to understand changing locations, in case anyone else has these questions!
@Tbad I think you need to raise this with member services as sitters are verified so a change of age sounds unusual?
Ask to speak to a human via live chat .
So a reverse-image search showed that the profile photo was false and showed the face of another person? That should not be acceptable. Yes, report this to Membership services.
@Tbad In the second instance, where a real sitters changed significant details, to make themselves appear 18 years younger, I wonder if that may be because more than one person is using the sitter profile?? All sounds a bit strange to me, and I would report both instances.
Yes and I did report this to member services. They were able to apply to another set of dates of ours, so it doesn’t seem my concern raised any red flags. This particular user still has sits happening so there’s something truthful about their profile??
I guess it could also be a couple or a family that sits and they could change the account to the person that would actually do the next sit??
Regarding photos, many people are concerned that their personal information could be collected and misused, for instance by doing reverse searches of photos. I am actually sceptical on how my personal info is available to others than the persons I do sits for here on TH. My photo is not an ad-photo but I totally get why someone would do that. Instead I have made sure that the photo of me I have used on my profile cannot be reversered searched to collect my data.
If you have a concern I think it is perfectly alright to contact TH and ask. But I think we should use that option most - raise concern - ask - more than «accusing», «complain» and «demand investogation». I do feel here in the forum that torches are lit and witch-hunts started a little to quickly. Which wasn’t really directed at this thread but more a sigh from the heart.
@Silversitters Will do! Looks like support reached out to me after this post was made. I was curious to know if anyone else had noticed this. I dont know that many look back at their past sits.
@RosiePosie it seemed highly unlikely to be the case, as we chatted with them prior and it was only one person who came to sit. Their profile still has the same photos, so no additional people were added in that way.
@Colin Their name has definitely changed, and their reviews show it. There are 3 different names listed. i noticed it because when i went to my archived messages to search for someone, their name was different and I did not recall having a confirmed sit with that person’s “new name”.
I changed my profile’s name from just mine, to mine and my husband’s after some time.
There was no accompanying sitter, with our sit at least.
@Garfield totally agree on the torch thought process, ive noticed that on almost all platforms and did my best to come across inquisitive (because im actually concerned since this person has stayed in my home) rather than accusatory. I am sure this sitter has their reasoning for doing what they did, but I will never know the reasoning haha!
