Tags on why a sit might be a good match

While looking for a fall sit this morning in the app, I noticed a new feature… when you open a sit, comments come up on why it might be a good match.
For example, on a sit in New Hampshire, it starts with:
*matches your experience with dogs
*matches your preference for L size dogs
*requires up to 60 mins dog walking per day

Another one in South America says:
*matches your experience with cats
*open to applications from couples
*Would like to video call

I like it!

Yes “highlights”! Just noticed this too

Interesting. Doesn’t seem to be implemented on my app as yet.

@Oztravels It could be one of those AB test things as my screen looks different than the one posted by @avocadotoast
It doesn’t say Highlights, just comes up with the bullets at the top of the listing

Just seen this too on my ipad. Great news if they are now going to show the tick boxes but if that is the case I would like to see all the boxes the owners tick not just the ‘highlights’. If it is limited to just 3 then the ones I would lke to see are around walking times, leaving at home times and medications required. I can pretty much determine the size of the dog by the photos.

Yes I agree. “Non negotiables” would be more helpful!

I understand why that information would be useful, but as a HO I find some of the questions quite problematic. Quoting myself from last April, when the boxes appeared on to my listing:

I guess working within the limitations set by THS might be far from perfect but they could certainly be a starter for 10 to be clarified during the video call. For example if the box ‘never’ was ticked that would allow those with that red line to skip by but 2-3 hours could be qualified at the chat to say that they could do the occasional longer day. Equally the total hours of walking per day could be ticked at 1 hour with further clarification that the hour would be split over say 2 walks.

I suspect experienced HOs such as yourself and those using the forum would probably have the details spelt out in the responsibilities section anyway but for those that just say feed and walk the dog twice a day it would give sitters more of a clue than that.

I would think they are based on my tags also, so if I had three important tags, I could either select those three, or maybe it could be possible to have tags that are obligatory and/ or prioritzed?

I tried my app now, and I have the feature.

Good point, will take another look at my profile and as I have some searches set up might have a play around to see what different combinations do. It would help if THS could announce changs with explanations rather than us find out and wonder how it works

Yes the newsletter would be a good place to put news instead of the stuff we currently receive

Using the latest Android app and viewing the same listing but could only see the tags on the device running Android 14, but not on the one running Android 12. We find the tags helpful especially if the HOs prefers a single sitter and has checked that box.

I like the “would like to video call”.
I think it would be helpful if owners could see similar tags when looking at sitters’ profiles.

The most useful tag for me would be how long a pet can be left alone for ?
Whilst owners get asked to tick a box that collects this data, I have checked my profile
and I cannot see anywhere for a sitter to state their preferences for this .
So how can THS match us ?

This one is really baffling that it’s so hidden @Silversitters - it’s such a key deciding factor for any sitter that it’s really odd it’s not transparent. And must be doubly annoying for an HO when they think they’ve declared it to sitters already :flushed: #transparencywinstheday

I would like to get the one about the size of the dog. Do you know how they match you? Do you state in your profile that you have this preference?
I really wish we were informed about all this when these changes are introduced so that we could make the most os them instead of being let to figure it out by ourselves.

@Newpetlover On your dashboard under Edit Your Profile, you can select your preferences for places, types of pets, how long you are willing to walk a dog, and the size of the dog. Here are a some screen shots…

Thanks a lot. I think that wasn’t there the last time I updated my profile. I have filled that in now.

Thank you for pointing that out. That immediately updated our search results.

I have seen that today for the first time

But I don’t think it was accurate. The responsibility section mentioned three walks a day.

I also found another tag that was wrong. It said “open to solo sitters” but it was then clearly stated that the sit was not suitable for a single person.

I guess the app may be getting the information from that tick list and then the owners forget to update it. Very confusing.
