RIP Michael Parkinson.
I just saw an excellent show about him on BBC - Parkinson at 50
followed by an interview he did with the actress Ingrid Bergman in 1973 which can be found on youtube if you cannot access bbc iplayer

Not sure if anyone has already seen Mr. Robot - it came out a few years ago. You can see it on Amazon Prime TV in the US. It’s one of those shows I’d watch again.
We need to try that one again @wendy_chicago - gave up about half way through series 2. We’ve had no TV for 4 months so are starting to get the film/box set itch Start Up with Ron Pearlman and Edi Gathegi is excellent if you haven’t watched that yet. Casting is inspired
RIP Parky for sure
@Cuttlefish it is a bit of a mind blogging story line. It reminded me a bit of Lost, but with a much better ending. Season 4 was so good as things begin to come together.
Start Up sounds pretty good and will have to check it out!
I never watched a single episode of Lost (or Friends for that matter ) @wendy_chicago #misspentchildhood - we will try again with Mr Robot. Rami Malek is excellent. Bohemian Rhapsody was made for him
And how many episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale did everyone get through before finally throwing in the towel? I think I got into Season 3 before it all got too difficult
I am pretty sure that I watched it to the end
I’ve watched all 5 seasons of it! Waiting to see when season 6 will air which I suspect it’s going to be quite a while, specially right now with all the strikes.
I didn’t watch Friends until I was in my 30s lol.
I blame that on not being a fluent English speaker when I moved to the states in the late 90s, so I didn’t understand the humor.
Funny fact: when my dog gets a haircut he looks like one of the characters from the first couple of seasons, Mr. Heckles
We are big fans of going to the movies, wherever we happen to be petsitting. We have an AMC membership, which allows us three movies a week, for a monthly fee of $25. As retirees with time on our hands, it’s a great weekday outing, when the theaters are pretty much empty. Saw Gran Tourismo this week, and it was fantastic!!! What an amazing true story, that you will enjoy, even if race car driving is not your thing.
Your dog is super cute!
Thank you, @Maggie8K !
He is quite the little person too.
For lovers of Winnie the Pooh, I recommend this 2017 British biographical drama film, Goodbye Chrisptopher Robin which tells the story of the relationship of the author AA Milne with his son, Christopher Robin. Good cast, headed by Domnhall Gleeson Margot Robbie, Kelly Macdonald.
[Not to be confused with the 2018 film starring Ewan McGregor and Hayley Atwell which is a live-action, animated fantasy comedy-drama film]
@cat.tails - That looks interesting. We did a house sit in Ashurst last year which is the village next to Hartfield, the birthplace of A.A. Milne.
We had a lovely day there exploring all things Pooh including a walk through Ashdown Forest ( Aka The hundred-acre wood ) in search of Pooh Sticks Bridge!
Not watching anything right now: the remote is gone!
One of the remotes, the one to change channels with. I used it last night.
Did I put it somewhere? I have even checked the fridge
But I am suspecting the dog. It is also on a random channel now.
Anyway, a good reason to do some vacuuming in the couch, under the couch, etc. But first we will take a walk. The weather is gorgeous.
One of my favorite journalists and broadcasters, Michael Parkinson has sadly passed away.
“Parkinson At 50” shown on BBC Thursday now available on BBC I Player is so worth a watch and includes some of the broadcaster’s best interviews.
An operatic “skit” between Dudley Moore and Peter Ustinov is a joy
Laughter and tears, thank you Michael.
“He pioneered new formats, could get almost any guest in the world and conducted the best interviews ever. Parky was one of the finest broadcasters of any era”
Mark Lawson The Guardian
I watched Parkinson At 50 a few days ago - and yes, that operatic “skit” between Dudley Moore and Peter Ustinov is brilliant!
I’ve also been watching “And Just Like That,” a sequel to the “SATC” franchise.
I don’t love it, but I used to love SATC, so I am well invested in the main characters. It’s like a guilty pleasure, sometimes so bad, but I can’t stop watching. It’s hard to explain.
@pietkuip I’ve been there! Sometimes when things disappear, after giving a good search, I just add finding the item to my to-do list, then put it out of my mind for a while. Usually, instead of sprouting legs, the item shows up not too long later. I like to think of it as the universe gremlins or some of deceased relatives playing jokes on me.
I’m glad you got out to enjoy a walk in the great weather instead of worrying about the remote. I hope you had a wonderful walk, and the gremlins give you back your remote soon!
Thank you! And last night I saw live theatre instead of watching tv. It was on meta-meta-meta level (and I may have missed a layer…), but we also had many laughs. And the content was serious, about life and love. I am glad though that this was not an assignment in literature class
There is a cultural festival here in Groningen now. I have also been to a free open-air concert by a Mexican band with marimbas - great atmosphere! And perfect weather.
So I have not gotten around to vacuuming yet, and the remote is still missing.
