What are you watching?

I think some people on this thread have watched the Australian comedy series Colin From Accounts. I have now started to watch another Aussie series called Fisk which is quite amusing, this one is set in Melbourne.

Just finished A Very English Scandal with Ben Whishaw and Hugh Grant - based on the Jeremy Thorp scandal. Very good, funny. Just saw the new Ben Whishaw film, Passages, and that is great, too.
Halfway through Dahaad, an Indian police series about caste, class, gender… A line from the woman police office protagonist “a mirror is always shiny on one side the other is dark.”

Yes, I’m excited too! The book was wonderful, the premise interesting, and the author had nothing but great things to say about the tv version. I can’t wait to see how it’s portrayed on tv. Thanks for the reminder @Samox24.

Who is going to be the first sitter to take a dog to the movie theater ?

Last weekend, Curzon Cinemas, a chain with 16 locations in Britain, began allowing dogs to attend select movie screenings with their owners, starting with “Strays,”

This show had a very satisfying ending. I’m not sure if there will be another season, but I wouldn’t be too bothered if it didn’t.

@cat.tails I love Fisk, it’s hilarious! The other great Aussie comedy is Utopia, a mockumentary. Probably only really funny to Australians though as it’s a parody of an Australia government organisation achieving not very much for all their taxpayer funded work! It also stars Kitty Flanagan from Fisk. Utopia’s predecessor is The Hollowmen, also a mockumentary, which was scarily like the government department I worked in at the time. Both shows are made by Working Dog of The Castle fame.

I have been watching The Woman in the Wall on BBC but they only show one episode per week. I discovered that my memory of the earlier episodes is very bad so I have to rewatch it all! They are now on ep 5 and I forgot who some of the characters/names were that they referred to from earlier episodes. All in all, for me it is easier/preferable to binge watch a series rather than 1 episode a week over 5+ weeks!

I watched some good documentaries lately:
The Real Spies Among Friends - itvx
Athos 2016 - on netflix

and on the BBC iplayer:
Border Country: The Story of Britain’s Lost Middleland 2014
Black and British: A Forgotten History 2016
Britain’s Forgotten Slave Owners 2015
Coco Chanel: Unbuttoned 2023
Caligula with Mary Beard
Meet the Romans with Mary Beard

And I also watched Russell Brand: In Plain Sight: Dispatches - channel 4 documentary. This was shocking but not surprising.

@cat.tails The Woman In The Wall is excellent :+1:t2:

@Samox24 This quote was included in The Sept. 15th Washington Post’s weekly Book Club newsletter under the Books to Screen and Stage section:

  • “Wilderness,” starring Jenna Coleman and Oliver Jackson-Cohen, debuts today on Prime Video. The series is based on B.E. Jones’s thriller about the perfect road trip planned by a woman who knows her new husband cheated on her. Turns out there’s nothing scarier in the Grand Canyon than the green-eyed monster. News about the series has been eclipsed by excitement over the soundtrack, which includes Taylor Swift’s hypnotic single “Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)”
