Iceland (geology!), Amsterdam (art, bikes, architecture!), Rhine (castles!), Brugge (chocolate, history!), Paris (metro, food, Versailles, Louvre, um, etc!). Loved the trains, listening to languages, the different perspectives- candy for the eyes, the brain. Three weeks of awe. Am I gushing!?
Would like to get to Scandinavia/UK (genealogy), Switzerland, Iberia. And…
You?

Wow….it’s not a country but one of my favourite places…Florence. There have been two sits posted in the last 24 hours. In about three years I don’t think I’ve seen any. Unfortunately, we can’t take advantage of this but who can. An unmissable opportunity!

Hi @MrunalMehta where in India are you? I lived in Mumbai for 6 years and have to agree with your “Indian View”

One of the country’s greatest gifts are the people, we have wonderful friends from our time there and one day I would love to return …

Welcome to our multi-cultural community and please share your country with us through images and your vision.

I love many places. Indonesia is great, especially if away from the more touristy area. Plenty of islands but do like the Amed region of Bali where snorkelling brilliant but also able to just take off and walk up into the hills/mountains where all you see is locals. So welcoming and will even invite you in for refreshments. Also love Australia and in a way is like several countries as so diverse depending where you are. Much cooler and greener Abany and Esperance and hotter up north by Cape Range National Park and Ningaloo Reef. Brilliant for snorkelling as many turtles and colourful fish. Can also wander around seeing basking snakes and eagles, osprey, kangaroos etc. But I do also love New Zealand , especially its many walking tracks. Have walked The Queen Charlotte Track twice now all 71k of it. Starts from Picton one of my favourite places, also a lovely walk out to The Snout. Amazing scenery everywhere. The Tongariro Crossing another fantastic walking track not to be missed. Great walks/tracks around Wanaka also, with the option of a quick dip in the lake in many places. The most amazing ferry crossing ever must be from Picton to Wellington though. absolutely stunning as you sail out of Picton.

You know it’s a Cook Strait bad weather day when the ferries are delayed by a few hrs or simply cancelled :scream:. Our last welly-picton ferry was a bit lumpy n windy but lovely to sit up top n observe.

Should you ever get back here to NZ, there are heaps of trails off the advertised touristy ones. For example, here the South Canterbury area & there are some gnarly ones but also cool huts to wander up to far away from the tourists. If you look at the Wildthings site https://www.wildthings.club/, there’s a trail for pretty much every day…

I’m an Irish woman originally from Dublin and totally agree! I’ve always been adventurous and went on my own in 1978 on a trip to Spain, Portugal and Morocco where I met my English husband and we’re still married and travelling the world together! Hubby will agree that I definitely tell him when he’s wrong and I love the craic

Hi RunnerC. Many thanks for your reply and helpful advice regarding ‘Wildthings’ link Much appreciated. Love New Zealand and have frequently just taken off places to see where they may take me. I did this at Lake Tekapu when wanting to join a trip up to see the observatory. Had thought I would just be able to join a group but couldn’t and would not go just for one person, so I walked up there instead. Think I may have climbed over a low wire fence somewhere but amazed that I was able to walk right up to the observatory and nobody at all around to turn me away. It felt like I was the only one, kind of on top of the world. Not a tourist or anyone to be seen anywhere. Couldn’t actually go into any of the buildings housing all the equipment though but had some amazing, spectacular views and walked back as getting dusk seeing many stars. Thankfully able to retrace my steps as didn’t know whether heading the right way in the first place. Just felt that I wasn’t going to be beaten and if nobody would take me I would walk it. So glad I did. Really felt like I was in Tolkien land and that a hobbit jumping out from somewhere would not feel out of place.

The observatory’s part of the Mt John loop & part of a good training run in the area :+1:.

The house I am now at has a bottle of spray-on cheese! It’s for the dogs. You can spray a little dab on a treat or on a med. Super easy and fun (and funny).

Hello- I’m new here. How does one secure a house sit? Is there a “ list” of potential sit opportunities somewhere?

Hi @Cinfranz welcome to our community forum … to apply for sits and there are many on the website, you need to complete your registration and membership to TrustedHousesitters, once you have done this, created your profile and completed all of the verification steps you will have full access to the website and can start your TrustedHousesitters journey

Iceland!! We’ve been four times & even lived there for 2 months in 2018. I feel at home there & just love the scenery & people & food & experiences it offers. If they make it easier for US citizens to move there I’d certainly consider it!

I have way too many favorite countries, but if I’m going to narrow Down the top 5 they’d be:

New Zealand: I spent a montn there on my 25th birthday many moons ago and fell head over heals. The biodiversity of mountains, ocean and forest was hard to beat, I’d love to return

Fiji: another place I fell head over heals with. Lovely people, and such beautiful island’s . I’ve been there 4 times.

Norway: i visited Norway in the winter of 2017 and absolutely loved it. The combination of mountains and ocean was beyond perfect.

Scotland: i visited Scotland in 2016, primarily the inner Hebrides, Isle of Mull and the Isle of Skye. Truly amazing places. And I’m happy to say I just accepted my first international sit next spring in Scotland so super excited to return.

Ecuador: This was my first time to South America in 2015. Ecuador embodied amazing biodiversity reminded me of a smaller Costa Rica. Had an amazing time there.
