I had a sit where we looked after two dogs, Sherlock and Mrs Hudson.
I’ve just realised we have a bunch of blogs on pet names, if you’re interested, you can find them here ![]()
I SO wish that I could claim this as my own…but, alas, credit is due to a friend of a friend : A cat named Fishstick !
I also met some hosts with a dog named Dr. Watson, and 2 cats named Sherlock & Mrs. Hudson haha.
Met a black dog with one narrow white streak that went down the middle of his forehead and chest…named Oreo.
And here is our sweet girl Athena, nicknamed Beanie. Once I saw that she wasn’t going to outgrow her ears, I realized we’d missed a real opportunity by not naming her “Radar.”

Hi @MerryPuppins Oh that’s brilliant and what a coincidence!

That’s hilarious! Reminds me of my father-out-law‘s cat, Lottie, who was found in a parking lot. Worst cat ever…he is a retired vet, so he gave the tiny kittie nasogastric feeds for the first weeks and that cat is the meanest feral type personality…but Bill is head over heals with her, go figure. I had a cat named Checkers cuz of the face being divided into four square markings, and now have a dog named Belly cuz when we got her she was named “Bella” which happens to be the most common dog name, and we couldn’t have that, now, could we? The name Belly turns out to be appropriate after all, cuz she’s constantly rolling over for belly scratches at the drop of a hat.
If you call someone Fishstick in Turkish (fistik) it means peanut and is used as an endearment. Would make a great pet name. #peanut
I used to watch two cats named Popcorn and Peanut !
Not desperately inventive, but I’ve looked after a kit called Eartha.
She was a dark tortie, so the name really worked.
Not from a pet sit, but if you watch Ted Lasso, Leslie on there had a cat named Cindy Clawford.
Too funny!! Thanks for sharing
