Who else is out on a Christmas 2024 ~ New Years sit & how’s it going?

My husband and I are away from Canadian winter for a few months again this year, thanks to THS. This year we’re on sit #4 of a seven sit, 2 1/2 month, visit to New Zealand from Nova Scotia! We’re having a blast with the pups at each location and, to our great amusement, this is our first sit that includes dogs plus outdoor fish and turtles :turtle::turtle::tropical_fish:

As a fellow Canadian - lucky you escaping the winter but we’re having a mild one in Vancouver. We did a first time sit in Nova Scotia last April and really enjoyed it. Enjoy yourselves in New Zealand! Outdoor fish and turtles sound like an interesting sit

Hello, I am in Whangaparoa for a month. Where in New Zealand are you? Are you up for a beach walk on christmas day?

I am in New Zealand. Love the beach walks and trails. The people always say hello to you. Everyday is nature postcard. Anyone in The Auckland area up for a beach walk on the black sand North island on Christmas day.

@VespaSpice, kudos on the adventure.
Canadians-ish, we’re back in Western Canada for the festive season. Housesitting in interior BC. But only recently back after five months international housesitting. What fun!
Hope that you enjoy a wonderful experience in New Zealand.

I’m in foggy (atmospheric!) Wiltshire with these 3 - hoping to find walks that involve narrow winding lanes.

I’m on my regular Christmas sit (and it’s a white one!) with this little guy. It’s my sixth Christmas here — a real tradition now. For New Year’s Eve, one night only, I go to another repeat sit, where I made friends in the community. I’m very happy.

My first Snowbird trip down south away from the Canadian winter in Toronto. I decided to take a 8 mth break from my back to back house sitting. My 5th year.

Since October, have driven my Honda Odyssey mini-van across Canada, then down the Pacific coast. 8200 km (5100 miles) of VanLife camping. I found a Las Vegas house for the Christmas week. Beagle and a cat.

Off to see the Grand Canyon next week then pushing south, 3 mths in Mexico, Guatemala to Cancun. A Big loop all around edges of North America. Returning to Toronto for my regular summer sit there.

The Adventure continues. Happy Holidays everyone.

I’m in Palm Springs with two adorable beagles in a stunning home. A native Californian, I’ve always wanted to visit this area and I am not disappointed - warm desert ( If they offer a return for a hot - 30-40 c - summer sit, I’m all in)
Off to the gym and then a hike… Happy Holidays to All !

Lovely that you made it to Nova Scotia! We’ll be stopping in Vancouver in our way home in February just to break up the trip a bit!

We’re in Papamoa, near Tauranga. So a bit far from you but a beach walk would have been fun!

Sounds like a grand adventure! The more times we sit, the longer we seem to stay away each year. :joy:

Palm Springs !! Sounds fabulous. And, agreed, about seeking warm weather :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Yes. So many beaches with hardy anyone in them! :woman_shrugging:t2:

There’s always heaps of space on most NZ beaches & many more where you may only see a few people. Usually, there’s ample enough space to play beach rugby or cricket on christmas day:santa::slightly_smiling_face:.

Have you walked from Omanu beach back down towards Pap? Noticed the globs of odd shaped jellyfisn? Thankfully not the blue jellyfish :scream:.
