@kimshady incredible.
Ontario cottage way out in the bush. Trillium flowers blooming everywhere. One month here on the lake.
Ketch Harbor, Nova Scotia - a Halifax suburb. Landscape is starting to turn green.
Three dogs and a cat.
Stella, who was a pal as soon as I walked in the door and is sitting in my lap as I write this -
Oliver, who wouldn’t get near me when I arrived but the next morning with HO gone, was a best friend -
so
And Maya who decides when she wants to be close -
Chanel, the cat lives downstairs and is okay with the dogs, but generally stays on her own -
Am!
It’s been a wonderful quiet time. The only grumble has been pets and owner unrelated: rain drizzly rain drizzly rain lol! Makes it hard to enjoy the rural area as much as the lovely spring days between the drizzly ones!
HOs are great, pets are fantastic, home is comfy, location is so pretty.
beautiful @Colin
Love border terriers. I sat a super sweet and easygoing one and learned that his little face — looks like a grumpy Gus — belies his nature.
Borders are great. Small dog with big dog attitude. Love them @Maggie8K
And this is Murphy . Before & after a hair cut. Rescued from the sands of Patara Beach #luckiestdogever
Heart melting!
@kimshady curious and curiouser…
Latest sit off to a great start.
On the plane from the U.S. to the UK, helped take care of a lovely mum and kids on their way home to Cairo. Nothing like holding a sweet, warm infant. And her 4-year-old brother was a charmer with a shy smile. I always sympathize with parents traveling with kids, especially solo adults with young ones.
Arriving in London during late afternoon worked out perfectly. Had enough energy for an early tapas dinner at Borough Market, an easy stroll from my hotel at Bankside. Followed by gelato and drooling at a cheese shop. I heart .
Then arrived today for my repeat sit in Stratford-upon-Avon, home to Shakespeare. My hosts picked me up at the train station, offered me a bottle of wine and told me to help myself to food and ingredients, then left me with my sit dog.
He’s a sweetheart. After napping, we happily strolled around town during magic hour. He enjoyed sniffing all the things and treeing a squirrel.
An aside: I’m so envious of Brits and their extensive trains — clean, convenient, comfortable. Sigh. So much that the U.S. could learn from other countries.
This was my first time seeing a kangaroo. The PP forewarned me that kangaroos casually roam around in the front yard. Definitely a sight to see. My official welcome to Australia
@kimshady Welcome! And those were pretty muscular too! Are you (they) in Victoria, by any chance? I found the kangaroos there are humongous. The ones in NSW are a bit less muscle-y.
@botvot the sit is in Western Australia near Mandurah.
Enzo had to make do with a few treats while I enjoyed a full English at a historic pub in idyllic Stratford-upon-Avon.
Earlier this morning, he helped with the grocery delivery.
Just jumped back on THS and am enjoying the second of two wonderful local sits.
I live on the outskirts of a large metro area. The local sits give me a chance to explore some of the city’s wonderful, older neighborhoods.
Also have a couple longer, far-flung sits scheduled this summer.
Hope everyone is enjoying life and new pet friends whatever you are!
Just started a short sit which is a dream, even though it’s not one I’d be tempted to apply for (i was invited and the reviews assured me it would be fine) - 4 dogs is more than I’d usually consider but they are an absolute delight, really well mannered and very friendly. it’s only a short drive from home, but in the middle of the countryside with song birds (including a cuckoo) in the background (oh, and a neighbouring peacock too). On our walk around the garden, a stoat wasnt too impressed at the interest being shown by one of tge dogs. The 4 poultry wander around on bug patrol - i just have to let them out in the morning & shut them in at dusk.
Just started a 5 day sit in a log home 1/4 mile off MM 193 of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. A black cat, Oscar Wilde who spends most of his time outdoors. Haven’t seen him since I arrived and he’s not eaten the food I’ve left out for him either. HOs know and are telling me not to be concerned. And 5 runner ducks and a drake. Although the drake is younger than the ducks and was added to the flock, he is definitely in charge. And seems to take responsibility for the ducks - kind of herds them, makes sure they eat before him.
There is also a breard in the house but he went off with the HOs.
