Who's on a house sit now? How's it going?

2 posts were merged into an existing topic: Very long sits - Should sitter contribute to the bills? How do you deal with separation anxiety?

We are on a weekend sit in Worcestershire, UK, with our favourite Scotties, Finlay and Charlie. It’s our third sit fir them this year, and we’ll be back over New Year.

Here are all the boys blending in in a colourful bus shelter!

And Charlie, who is not normally a lap dog, getting comfortable.

So fun to read all these stories.
I am with Kaylee the cat, In Vermont USA for three weeks. Peak of the color leaves season, farmer’s markets, walks… and time with a couple of friends I was allowed to invite. Kaylee, is adapting to each belly ! Enjoy the season, dear sitters.

Finishing up a wonderful 3 week sit in rural Normandy with these three sweethearts. There have been a lot of interesting places within an hours drive that I’ve had the pleasure of visiting. And, hosts that are truly wonderful - I arrived two days before they left. They took me shopping and prepared two wonderful dinners. Lovely house, lovely pets and lovely hosts - doesn’t get any better.

I’m on a sit where I would love for the pet to come out of its hiding

place and into its box.

Meet Gabby. Gabby is a 13-year-old Shih Tzu. I have cared for senior dogs, but she seems a little bit more special and touching.

Gabby has loss some vision and hearing, but she is present. I use hand signals and her wagging tail acknowledges me. Although she may not see me clearly, her soulful eyes tell me that she does.

She gets excited for and loves going on walks. She does have some arthritis in her rear legs, but she does not let that slow her down. If she is in pain, she does not show it. We walk at her pace and she has moments of spryness—sometimes, I am trotting trying to keep up with her. :grinning:

She also gets excited for golf cart rides which we do in the evenings. She has a soft cushion that she sits on that is placed over the seat.

This day, when I returned and did not see her immediately, this is where I found her—near my shoes in the guest bedroom where I sleep.

While Gabby may have a few physical challenges, she has an inner joy which reminds me to take time to smell the flowers, to live in the moments I am given, and embrace the present.

She’s an absolute darling  Reminds me of one of my favourite dogs I’ve ever looked after, an elderly Shih Tzu named Kiera. She was the sweetest soul. She had dementia and was deaf, but very affectionate and receptive, much like Gabby.

Hi @anon6309382

Yes, she is a little Bonafide darling.

And though she has loss some of her hearing and vision, she certainly has not lost her appetite. She has an internal clock of letting me know when it is time for her meals. One look with her soulful eyes does not let me forget.

Kiera looks like a sweetheart.

Batten down the hatches and take care with the hurricane @DMcat. Hope you and the kitties will be safe.

We’re battened! At least it’s cats. I don’t have to walk them.

We are just at the end of 16 days in Varese, Italy with supposed to be 3, but mostly 2 cats. One kitty likes to stress us out and stay at the neighbors. LOL We were warned, but it makes us nervous nonetheless. This has been a quiet and lovely sit <3

Hi @DMcat

I hope that you and the adorable cats are safe.

I am in Estero, FL and here it was windy with lots of rain from Hurricane Helene—but fortunately, no loss of power or flooding.

The pup and I are safe.
