Wishlist for 2025

While some are excited waiting for Santa, I’m excited waiting for petsits summer-25!

Have already applied for one summer sit (still reviewing) and I would guess that after New Year they will start to pop up much more frequently.

My wishlist is not so location-based, but somewhere I can take my partner for July. Urban, culture (- exotic if reasonable flights) - no car needed.

Have you started looking forward to summer? Know what you’re looking for yet? :star_struck: :service_dog: :black_cat: :chicken: :globe_with_meridians:

Doesn’t hurt to keep an eye out if you have an idea of what you want.

I’m trying to stay flexible, so haven’t pursued anything beyond the first quarter of 2025.

I love the sea and I am booked for a return sit in July (2 cats) on the Dorset coast complete with a hot tub, a heated garden room and a fully kitted out beach hut. I went in winter before which was lovely but this time I intend to make the most of the beach. I am fully booked until August

Fun post! Thanks @Garfield!

My plan is to take a one way Trans-atlantic cruise to Italy from Florida, the same price as a flight by the way, where I can handle clients remotely when we aren’t ported. Then my intention is to pet sit my way through Europe until summer so I can avoid the heat. Blessed to live this life!

I just confirmed a three-month sit for the summer in the US close to where I grew up. I’ve spent a lot of time traveling, mostly in Europe, over the last couple years and am looking forward to being in one place and near family for a few months. My 20 year-old daughter will be with me for parts of the summer (but she’ll be in Italy in a summer Opera training program for half of the summer). So, my summer is set now and I will start planning my fall/winter trip to Asia next!

Is there some way you’ve been able to check internet reliability and speeds ahead of your cruise? I’ve found that various cruises have weak internet.

I’m going to take my latest cruise in Europe and have already warned coworkers that I’ll be available only sporadically.

They usually charge by the day on cruises for wifi and it’s not always good. Also you need to check the 90 day limit for Europe. Worth checking both

Great to be able to bring grandchildren @ElsieDownie ! You’ve done that successfully before, I believe (?).

That photo was stunning, @Chrissy ! Such vibrant colors!

I love your plans @petsitandchill and @systaran. Sounds really great to be able to plan a longer travel like that. With age I find the idea of a cruise more attractive. Mainly if it can be a mobile hotel between interesting places. I believe those transatlantic (and or re-location) cruises can be reasonable priced. Haven’t tried yet.

Thanks for input @Maggie8K . Always appreciate your insights.

Thanks I hope the weather in Dorset is as good in July as it was in January. I did walk on the beach most days and there was a lovely cliff top cafe for coffee.

What a fantastic topic @Garfield  I really enjoyed reading through this one.

I wanted to add this to our Featured Topics section on the Forum homepage, and in order to do so, we needed a photo so I used a stock image from Trusted Housesitters. If you have a photo of your own that you’d prefer to use, drop me a DM as I can change it.

Hoping to see some more replies about everyone’s plans for next summer!

Thank you for a lovely photo (and enthusiasm!) @Jenny!

@Maggie8K The only way I have found is to do a research on the specific cruise ship. Often times I find reviews and ratings on the WIFI by folks that have sailed on that particular cruise ship. Where the ship is sailing is also going to make a difference as well.

Thanks for the recommendations @Chrissy! The 90 day limit is such an important one!

I tried checking, but seems inconsistent. Like you’d think a river cruise would have better wifi than an ocean one, but meh.

Hawaii tops our 2025 wishlist  More so for Feb/March rather than summer though. We have 2 California sits booked for Jan/ Feb and hopefully something interesting comes up for after. If not Hawaii we’re open to something else in The US/ Canada/Mexico.

I’m in a big transition overall and don’t have a home base other than with my 75yo dad and his wife near Boise. I feel like I can’t choose with all opportunities wide open: I want to do all the things!

I’m heading to France on Sunday for a week before a month sit in Geneva. A sit popped up for four weeks just two days after that sit ends in a LCOL city I’m considering relocating to. It feels too far in advance to commit to though especially as I might want to stay in Europe longer.

I did start looking for summer sits in the PNW city we recently moved from. My 18yo son will likely be a camp counselor there again and I’d like to be close for at least part of it.

We don’t usually plan so far in advance, but we are hoping to get a long sit or a string of longish sits in a busy UK university town so my husband can work. We are fully nomadic, so taking breaks in one place to work for a few months has been crucial to extending our travels!
We’ll settle for London (as it has the most sits), but my wishlist is Edinburgh (former hometown), York, Newcastle, and Leeds.
