I just wanted to pop in and introduce myself.
My name is Jenny, and I’m your new Community Manager. I’ll be helping the team look after the Forum.
A few facts about me:
I’m 42 (and as Douglas Adams fans know, 42 is the meaning of life, the universe and everything!)
I was born and raised in Scotland, and live there still
I have an elderly black cat called Walter (see below for Walter at his spooky best) - he was a rescue and nobody knows his true age
My professional experience in Community Management spans a couple of years, but I’ve used online forums for over two decades
My hobbies include reading, live music, walking, and cooking
I’m new to the world of housesitting and can’t wait to learn all about it
Although this is my first post here, I’ve been lurking for a few days, and I’m really enjoying reading all of your thoughts and ideas about life, the universe, THS, and everything!
It’s amazing to have joined a community with so much heart and soul, and I am looking forward to getting to know it, and all of you.
Welcome and congratulations on your new role , I hope you find the world of house/pet sitting to be enjoyable, interesting and entertaining.
Thanks @Daisy999 - it’s genuinely lovely to be here. I’m so impressed by the wealth of knowledge here on the Forum!
Welcome Jenny! And hello to Walter.
Thanks @Katie Walter said “prrrrup” then dozed off again. He’s enjoying my heated pad now the weather’s a bit chilly here!
Welcome Jenny! We will all get to know each other a bit better soon! Happy moderating!
Thanks for the lovely welcome, @PVGemini
Welcome @Jenny_V and Walter!
Thanks @Debbie happy to be here!
Congrats Jenny and welcome! Walter looks like a gorgeous and absolute gentleman !!!
Welcome @Jenny_V in your new role as Community Manager. Walter is a real cutie. As you learn more about the sitting community you might find yourself in need of a sitter too!
@Jenny_V Welcome, and good luck in your new post. I’m in Scotland too.
Thanks so much @NadiaTHS - he’s SUCH a gentleman!
Thank you @temba - much appreciated! I’m looking to get my spare room done up in the next few months, so I have a comfy space for a sitter to stay!
Lovely to meet someone else in Scotland @Dace - I’m in the Scottish Borders - which area do you stay in?
Maybe TH should setup a section for members, like Nomador does, where homeowners make a welcome room available for fellow members for a day/night to stay between sits.
Welcome! Look forward to hearing from you in the Forum.
I’m in Ayrshire. I spent 3 months during covid between Melrose and Selkirk when my house was uninhabitable because of stalled house renovations. Lovely area!
Ayrshire is lovely! My parents used to take my sister and I up there for caravan holidays when we were kids!
I’m in Galashiels so I’m local to Melrose and Selkirk! It’s a really lovely area, we’re so lucky!
Welcome, @Jenny_V. I think the easiest (only?) way to learn about petsitting is to do it. So, I hope your first couple TH sits/hostings go well! Each sit is so unique. I love reading all the stories that people share here; even the “bad” ones are at least enlightening. And they’re all so real.
