Is anyone else having problems logging on to the THS website? Pretty poor (and comical really) considering the membership price hike and introduction of booking fees on the promise of a better service ![]()
I often have the problem that the 2FA code arrives far too late and has already expired. Fortunately, I am usually logged in on several devices.
One host just told me she was having issues getting a verification code emailed as well. Starting to feel like it’s not a one-off…?
I just tried logging in. I received my veriication code in less than 10 seconds and logged in with no issues.
Certain emails such as hotmail are not compatible with the THS 2 factor verification system.
Check your spam/junk email. Email support@trustedhousesitters.com not that you will get a reply. I haven’t had a reply from them the last 3 times their system sent my 2FA code to an old email that I changed with THS over a year ago. Sometimes the 2FA codes go to my correct email and sometimes it goes to the old one. Maybe the new booking fees will be put in to developing a better IT system & professionalcustomer service to improve the customer experience! Nut I’m not holding my breath. Maybe @Jenny can help you.
They had to change our contact email in order to make 2FA work & it was one we’ve had on the site for 4 years (& wasn’t gmail). Might be easier to do that if it’s an option? #emailexchange
I prefer systems that allow you to choose email or sms. It annoys all heck out of me when sites don’t have a backup for this. It’s like no one can imagine you might ever change your email address, or be in a place where you have access to phone but not email, or vice-versa.
That said, it sounds like this really isn’t a one-off issue. My Host (also having an issue the past 2 days) said Support was sympathetic but couldn’t fix it, and an escalated response could take 48h. ![]()
IMO, if 2FA isn’t working consistently atm, it needs to be turned off until it’s fixed.
I just opened the site and a pop up appeared that asked me to verify my email…I was already signed in. Didn’t come even after requesting it be resent. I have never had an issue with the 2FA (Yahoo email) but it has been a bit since I have been automatically signed out and had to log in again. Just thought it would be good to add here that the verification request–which I had never been asked before–doesn’t seem to be working either.
@wisejude, there are multiple other THS Forum threads on this topic - encourage using magnifying glass to search 2FA. To answer your Q, yes - other THS members have experienced issues with accessing their account with 2FA. THS has made 2FA mandatory functionality, so a member cannot disable it. THS 2FA functionality is limited to email address so, unlike most services, 2FA code cannot be sent to SMS or use an authenticator app.
Does the email address that you have registered for THS successfully receive 2FA codes from other services?
We had to change the email address that we registered with THS - to an alias email address so that my spouse and I can each receive THS 2FA codes. Some THS Forum members have reported changing their THS email address to receive 2FA codes.
Laterally to your Q then an unintended consequence for us is that, since 2FA, we now rarely logon to the THS website. We now substantially rely on the THS iOS app. For us, the website is now a place to write stuff - e.g. applications.
As techies, we applaud 2FA functionality. It’s a mature, robust technology that keeps people safe. But, as noted in other threads, we wager that THS will upgrade or terminate its lousy 2FA implementation by spring 2027. Only a guess - we have no related knowledge. Based on suspicion that there are probably complaints, MS support time, and/or cancellations - and it would seem surprising if tech fix for such a mature, widespread technology was difficult or expensive to implement.
I haven’t had this problem. Is this a code going to your phone? If that is the case, and if you have confirmed the number the first trouble shooting step might be to check your blocked calls. It’s possible they are using a five digit text number that you blocked.
Ok, the verification issue is now sorted …. thanks to all ![]()
How did you get it sorted @wisejude? Please tell so other forum members can benefit.
