I have just registered and set up my profile. Did a search for pets it’s in October and worldwide there was on 12! 7 in the USA and 5 UK!! Is this norma!? There must be hundreds of available sitters chasing a dozen sits?? None in Europe. Just wondering whether I’ve done something wrong. Any comments appreciated.

Hello @Anih and welcome to the forum where you will find answers to most all your questions, including this one.
Yes, there are 100 upon 100’s of sits around the world so not sure why you are showing so few unless you have filters set for specific dates, pets, loations etc.
Also, can I suggest you link your member profile to your forum profile here at How to add a listing or profile link to your FORUM profile - Welcome & Getting Started - TrustedHousesitters Community Forum and follow the easy instructions. This will allow other members to easily view your profile and help you with added exposure to potential sits available in areas you are searching.

Hi @Anih and a warm welcome to the Community Forum. No this is not correct. I just did a search for October and it’s showing 582 sits for this month worldwide. Can I just check exactly what dates you entered in the search criteria?
As @Debbie-L mentioned, if you could also add your profile on here by following her link that would be great. This will then enable other members on here to offer you helpful advice and feedback.
If you are unsure how to do this, or if you have any questions at all, do not hesitate to ask, we are all more than happy to help.
Also, remember you can use the spyglass symbol at the top of the page next to the TrustedHousesitters logo and search for any questions that you may have as they have most likely already been answered on here and of course if not then please just ask!

@Anih Welcome- did you select a particular kind of pet or “all pets” ?
Thank you Debbie. I think I have added my Profile following the instructions.
I selected the month of October and Anywhere - no other filters. Just wondering if my account has not yet been fully activated as I literally registered a couple of hours ago.

@Anih right now I have noticed there are not as many October sits showing up yet. They will most likely start posting heavier next month as HO’s start making holiday plans for that time of the year but I am showing 630 sits for the month of October. Are you just looking at one page or are you scanning through each page at the bottom?

I selected ‘Anywhere’ and the month of October and that is all no other filters.

I don’t think your account is activated, because the link in your profile doesn’t display anything. And I’m taking a lunch break and I can see pages of listings for October. I stopped at page 10 and there are more.
You might want to check with membership services, because when I signed up I could instantly see countless pages of sits. Maybe something wrong with your signup.

That’s odd. I’m seeing hundreds in the US, hundreds in Europe and a lot in Australia.
It would be handy if it was possible to do a search for Europe rather than having to select individual countries…….
Also am I able to view my 3 character references once up on my profile?

You can’t search for all of Europe but you can see your references on both the app and a laptop if you “view profile” @Anih

Thank you. Personally think it would be quite useful to be able to exclude say certain countries or even continents in a search especially if like me you are only wanting to travel short distances.

You can search by country, or you can look at the map view and hit “search this area” and it will search just what’s in the window. This can be annoying in Europe as it’s nearly impossible to get all of mainland Europe in a search without including SE England, but it’s better than nothing.
Thank you. I do generally feel the search tool could be improved as there are 50 countries in Europe to explore.
Also do HOs approach sitters direct or do they generally put it out they’re and see who responds?

@Anih There is a discussion along the lines of this: Should UK be excluded from Europe.
Also, HO’s generally put up a listing and sitters apply. It’s more successful than trying to invite sitters - this approach rarely works, as sitters are not always available or don’t want to do a particular sit to which they get invited. So the odds are better if HO’s put up a detailed and attractive listing and let sitters come to them.

It happens the same to me. When I select the place, Europe is not even an option. Without filters, just want to look for pets in Europe.
