Feedback on profile

Hello,

I just started on this site and I was wondering if I could get some feedback on my profile. Any tips and tricks to help me improve interest.

Edited post in line with the Community Rules.

Hi there,
Are you a sitter or a pet parent?
If you link your listing or sitter profile to your forum bio, members can review & give feedback.

@Jenny et al

When a member asks a question like this wouldn’t it be sensible ( and kind) to add their listing link to their profile whilst editing it out of their message?

Great, the link worked :blush::+1:

Overall, your listing looks friendly and relaxed and you have great photos! However, it could be more refined in the responsibilities and give more info about yourself & your pets and their personalities so sitters feel like they get to know you, rather than just lists. Here’s some suggestions to consider:

1: Title.
Titles cut off in a listing’s preview after about 6 words, so try a short, attention grabbing title that tells sitters straight away why they should sit for you. 'e.g: explore Memphis; city, woodland & more!

2: Intro
Your introduction could give some more details about yourself and your pets so sitters get to know you a bit more; at the moment it’s quite short and a little impersonal - simply naming everyone in your household doesn’t do much for sitters. Tell sitters straight away why this is a great sit and why they should sit for you. It’s also good to tell sitters how many sitters you can host and what you expect for a handover (should they arrive the day before, and will you accommodate them for the night?)

3: Home & location section
The details of your home could be elaborated on. Will sitters need a car? Is there parking? How remote are you if you’re surrounded by forest? How close is central Memphis? Where is the nearest airport or station?

For things to see and do, you have listed an extensive list of attractions. Just tell sitters in a few sentences why they should visit your area and come to Memphis. Not many will take the time to click external links in a listing. Sitters will usually do their own research about your area according to what they’re interested in. A good show of hospitality will also go a long way; tell sitters if you can collect them from the nearest airport or station if needed.

4: Responsibilities section
You have been very clear in this section, which is great, but minor details such as locking doors, mail & bin collection etc can be left for your welcome guide, not your listing. Remember your listing is just a general overview & advert, it’s not the place to give all the instructions. That’s what your welcome guide is for. Condense this section to just the important pet details, and give more information about the pets and their personalities so sitters get to know them. Tell sitters:

  • Where do the pets sleep?
  • what are the pets personalities? Do they like cuddles, play time etc?
  • when exactly are the dogs fed and walked?

Hope that all helps, and here’s a blog that may also be helpful:

As your sit also starts in 6 days, you can post it on the last minute sit category here on the forum. Try boosting & re-listing. Trying to find somebody to start in just 6 days is tough; definitely have a backup plan! In the future, it’s best to post your listing a good few months in advance - many sitters confirm sits up to 6 months or more in advance.

Hi @Colin

That’s generally what the team should do in this situation :slight_smile: Appreciate the feedback - it does look like that happen didn’t here - so I’ll make sure we remember next time.

Thank you to @Nagy26 who popped on to share the “how to” post in order for the OP to share their listing via their profile.
