Very cute photo! We sit in the Yorkshire Dales, weâre from Durham.
Add your profile like @BJane said, this forum is excellent for helping owners tweak their profiles slightly, to get results.
Ok thanks for the advise!

Hi @buchanantribe,
Welcome to the forum!
I think your sit is quite desirable. Itâs a pity I am booked for your dates.
Good luck!
A lovely photo of Elvis on the narrowboat.
Lancaster is a great city if anyone is thinking about it - we are already on a sitting but good luck
Itâs a great listing already, but there are few things youâve missed out. Youâve put across the lovely personality of Elvis and your own personality really well, so thatâs great.
There is a shop, a Chinese and a pub - say FOOD shop, a Chinese TAKEAWAY if thatâs what it is etc, the words âfood shopâ is a huuuuuuuge selling point.
Morecambe & Lancaster - say how miles for each.
Place names - put a really short description of each, as some wonât realise what a beautiful area you live in. ie Morecombe - beautiful Victorian seaside resort, Lake District - UNESCO world heritage site, etc.
Bus - say where it goes to.
Village & Home Photo - saying the name of the village helps, but I understand if itâs a small village so youâd rather not say. Same goes for how you havenât put an image of the front of the house, but again I understand if youâd prefer not to, itâs just profiles typically get more applicants that way, so itâs up to you.
In the Home&Location part, this is all you actually say about your specific location "There is a shop, a Chinese and a pub all within a few minutes of us along with a load of lovely walks! So if the sitter has skipped to check this part, they wonât realise itâs a beautiful village, so repeat it using different words, ie pretty.
Also does the pub have a beautiful beer garden - if so, add it in.
Move the paragraph that says about Elvis being left for 6hours, and the dog flap higher up in that section, because that puts you one step ahead of those that can only leave a dog for 4 hours
Also, great main photo, but you could also say how many miles it is to the closest section of canal (because thatâs something that a lot of sitters donât have on their doorstep, so it makes it more unique).
Hope that helps
Iâd add a photo of the kitchen, people want to know where theyâll be preparing food and eating. Take a photo of it looking exactly as youâd leave it â for instance, if youâd plan to clean and put everything away, do that before photographing.
As well as explaining where the bus goes, do you have car share service readily available? Can you offer to pick someone up at the airport? If not, how far is it to the closest airport with international service?
I second the advice to provide a photo of the front of the house and the nearby village that people can walk to. I usually keep the photo of the exterior of my home on the listing when itâs live, then when Iâm not actively seeking a sitter, I take it back off. Some people want to see what the house l looks like from the front. Also second the advice to show photos of the village people can walk to, especially if itâs beautiful. And, yes, the fact Elvis can be left for six hours and has a doggie door is huge, place it higher.
Donât worry too much about not having applicants yet, the sit is still five weeks away. But consider that as a HO, youâre competing with other owners of one small dog. Think about how attractive you can make your sit. You mention that he is good in the car, is there a possibility you could make a car available? That is also huge.
For me, a brief mention of how Elvis could go on a canal ride with the sitter would be a huge plus - like explain how easy (or hard?) it is to make that happen. If I were legally allowed to sit in the UK (sadly, like the majority of non-UK based sitters, I am not), the opportunity to do a canal ride would get me over there in a jiffy. A brief Google search told me that some of the canal rides even offer dog welcome packs!
If a sitter knew, for example, that you would be happy for them to take Elvis on, for example the âLancaster Canal Trustâ trip that runs every Sunday, that would be great information to tempt someone to choose your sit over another one in the UK.
Thanks for that - he is rather gorge, but I am biased!!
Take vare
Thanks for that! Heâs actually on our Canadian canoe which he loves!
Hi there, this is very true, thanks for the heads up. Itâs actually our own Canadian canoe that we put on the canal and paddle about!!! But details like you mentioned are always a bonus! Appreciate your advise!
