Getting feedback from our sitter

We just had a fabulous sitter take care of our cat for a month. We did write a review for her and we are wondering how we might get feedback from her. We did try to anticipate what she would need to make her stay comfortable, but would like feedback to see if there are things we can do to improve our sitters experiences. Do sitters get prompted to provide feedback? Should we ask her for that? Where would it should up in our profile?

To my knowledge, there is no prompt that goes out to a sitter to review their experience. A quick simple request to the sitter may prompt a review. Some sitters move from one sit to another, so she may be adapting to the next sit. Or may be affected by a family or environmental emergency. Hurricane Ian comes to mind. Never assume what someone elseā€™s life is like. Hopefully a quick ask/reminder may result in the feedback you would like, especially if you are new to the site and want a few reviews to bolster your profile.

Hi @mishaa. Sitter here. If youā€™ve given the sitter about a week or so, Iā€™d certainly reach out and request a review, either through the siteā€™s messaging or directly if you got that contact info. You can thank the sitter again and politely mention how important a review would be to you.
Iā€™ve been pretty dogged (hah!) requesting reviews, and also try to bring up the importance at handover.
Good luck!

@mishaa if a host reviewed me before I reviewed them I was promted to return a review. Also if you read the sitters previous reviews you can go to the reviews of the host they sat for and see if they made one. Detective work to see if they consistently review.

Hi @mishaa, request feedback through the dropdown box near your photo on your Dashboard. Remember, itā€™s Feedback you are wanting from the sitter and not a Review as that is what you have given your sitter. Gets a bit confusing where a different word is used! By doing it officially it is then recorded so THS know you have done it. Sometimes sitters are unaware they can do Feedback (especially if new) and donā€™t realise that feedback is just as important to owners in securing future sitters as reviews are to sitters securing sits.

What has happened is that once youā€™ve given your review, the sitter gets a message ā€˜congratulations on your 5 star review. Please leave a review forā€¦ā€¦ā€™ unless that has changed. As a sitter I can also send a HO a message via the website requesting a review so maybe you can too?

@Smiley : The quoted message prompts you to write a review of Trusted Housesitters, not of your last host. Especially for new sitters it can be a bit hard to find out where and how to leave feedback on a fantastic host. It really would be good novelty to receive a link by an automated message from THS short after each sit, leading directly to the last hostā€™s profile.

Oh yes, I believe youā€™re right. Itā€™s actually quite annoying that every single time you get a review THS wants you to review them. Surely once is enoughā€¦.

Itā€™s what keeps their rating high on Trustpilot.

Hi @mishaa itā€™s wonderful to hear that you were so pleased with your recent sitters and it certainly sounds like you did your best to ensure they were comfortable during their stay.

Prompts are sent out to sitters to both request a review and leave feedback after the sit has completed. Providing the sitter is subscribed to our emails they should receive an email that looks like the below:

They also have the option directly on their dashboard to leave feedback too. However, as our helpful members above have suggested, you can absolutely send a request for feedback from your own dashboard.

All the best
Lucy

As a sitter I have never seen this message and am signed up to emails

@Smiley @Samox24 @Lokstar let me check in with our marketing team regarding this and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Thanks
Lucy

@Lucy-B You can add me to your list as I donā€™t remember ever seeing that email, and if I did, it certainly has not been for a very long time.

While weā€™re on inconsistencies of emails, Iā€™ll address the one that supposedly is sent out a couple of days before the end of every sit. I would say I get it maybe once a year, but not with any consistency. I certainly donā€™t need it either. I remember being annoyed by some of the wording.

@Lucy-B That is news to me as well - never seen it!
Does anyone have a clue what actually goes out to members pre and post sit? There is no consistency.

I donā€™t think thereā€™s very much that goes out to members pre and post sit consistently @Twitcher. Add me to the list too @Lucy-B.

@Lucy-B there SHOULD be an email to this effect, and its failure has been known for at least a year. I was originally told it was because I had more sits booked, but this is also not the case.
If you can get it sorted out, well done as it appears to be something that has been lost in the ā€œtoo difficult pileā€ for a long time

I must just say what a considerate home owner you are to be concerned about your sitterā€™s comfort, not that most home owners arenā€™t
