Not “Off Topic” at all @TheMapleKiwi something to be proud of and related to the Jubilee. Thank you for sharing some personal history.
Great pics thanks for posting!
@TheMapleKiwi As @Angela_L said, not “off topic” at all and thank you for sharing.
Sadly not going to the party at the palace concert but we will be attending our local Jubilee events in the Cotswolds over the next couple of days which should be fun!
@PetsSit thank you
Thank you so much for sharing these photos of what is an historic celebration @Samox24. I would love to have been in England this weekend!! So glad you enjoyed it and what else is in store over the weekend.
@temba you are very welcome and I am pleased you are enjoying the pics
Today we have a village outdoor lunch (let’s hope the British weather doesn’t stay true to form!) followed by classic games of egg & spoon races, sack races and suchlike, our very own village Ascot (hobbyhorse) race!
… then best hat parade
… village photo (290 residents)
…followed by a traditional pub quiz in the village pub this evening (very competitive!!)
Then tomorrow we will be heading to Blenheim Palace for the Jubilee celebrations there along with their food fair with Raymond Blanc in attendance
I’ll look forward to seeing photos of the village activities from today @Samox24 and @Kelownagurl. What you have described is so typical of village celebrations.
I was in London for Charles and Diana’s wedding so can well imagine what the atmosphere and decorations were like on Thursday.
Enjoy Blenheim Palace and the celebrations there as well as the food fair.
@temba that must have been an amazing day! I was only 3 years old at the time so missed that one…
Will do thank you and yes I will post lots of photos… should be fun
I can vividly remember that day @Samox24. The night before we’d been in Hyde Park for the celebrations then we walked down the Mall to Buckingham Palace along with thousands of others. People were camped along the route in sleeping bags and chairs so they’d have front row views. The atmosphere was unbelievable as was the actual wedding day. Something never to be forgotten as the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee will be for you.
@temba yes same along The Mall this time, many camped out days before.
As you say something never to be forgotten
@temba what a fun day!
These two photos are from our very own village Ascot race with a hobbyhorse … it’s just a shame I cannot upload the full video on here, it is very funny… If you want to watch the video it is on my Instagram page which is the same as my username on here!
This is the very sweet Douggie with his smart bow tie on
Homemade English Trifle
Another thoroughly enjoyable day! Roll on tomorrow
What a fun day indeed @Samox24! Love the “horse” race participants!! So English!
@temba very Monty Python
A few photos from the Jubilee Parade yesterday in Tenby, Wales.
The samba band leading the way.
Local dignitaries
People watching from windows
Heading for the harbour
The rain held off long enough for the Jubilee picnic lunch to go ahead this afternoon, complete with local entertainment and cake for all!
After all the fun in the village yesterday today we headed to Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire where they had a food festival for the Jubilee weekend.
We came across these absolutely adorable Valais Blacknose sheep, originally from the mountains of Switzerland
The very beautiful Blenheim Palace.
The photo above is Woodstock, the market town in Oxfordshire where Blenheim Palace is located and shows the preparations behind me for their street party lunch which they had earlier today.
The very beautiful lady Rosemary Spencer-Churchill’s Dress worn for the Queen’s Coronation which is currently on display at Blenheim Palace.
You were very close to me then!
@Kelownagurl yes we are virtually neighbours! … also if you want to meet up some time over the next few days then just let us know
We are hoping to go into Oxford for a bit tomorrow but maybe Tuesday? Hard to say though, that will be cleaning and packing day as well.
Tuesday is good for us… happy to meet wherever is best for you … I will DM you our number so if you do have some spare time we can sort something out.
