After having done housesitting for friends and family in the past (and did volunteer work at a wildlife rehabilitation centre in South Africa about a million years ago), I finally signed up for THS not so long ago. The reason I signed up is that I am planning to travel for a couple of years and for me housesitting seems like the best way to get my pet-fix and travel to locations I would maybe not go to otherwise. As a bonus it gives me a location to work from online.
Currently I’m on my first THS sit in Switzerland for 5 weeks and I’m loving every minute of it. Looking forward to many more housesits and making lots of new furry friends.
Welcome to our community forum and to Trustedhousesitters thank you for a lovely introduction and for the adorable photo you have shared on your other post >>
Pet and house sitting is an amazing travel lifestyle for every pet lover whether planning to travel every so often or like you with a bigger plan. It allows for slow, purposeful travel connecting with local communities in a way traditional travel can’t.
A pet sitters mantra could be … Pets, People & Places, it’s mine for sure.
Enjoy the conversations, connecting with members from around the world and we can’t wait to share in your new adventure
Hi Stephanie,
Your first house sit and it is Switzerland for 5 weeks during the best time of year! I just rejoined, am living in Spain and my next sit is the 25th in France.
Enjoy your time and keep in touch.
That sounds wonderful! I will be in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region myself, so close to Switzerland again. After living in the flat Netherlands most of my life, the mountains are a nice change in scenery
