Hello home owners
Ideally the owners of the Trusted House Sitter site would add the option to tick if you have an EV charger under ‘Amenities’, however I see other people have requested it in previous posts and it hasn’t happened yet. So, it would be really helpful if home owners could add to their listing if they have an EV charger point at their home.
I see some debate about whether home owners should charge for the electric use or not. I sit on the fence about this one, it only costs a few pounds to charge an EV so to me it would be nice to think home owners would offer it without charge but if I have to pay, that’s also not a problem.
Thanks.

Welcome @karenlet
and what a good suggestion, especially as in some countries all new homes now have an EV charger, so this will become a more standard “amenity”.
We had an all electric car over the past 3 years and learned (like many others) the misleading info provided by manufacturers on max distance between charges. This introduced a whole new level of anxiety to our house sits on arrival and departure days, particularly while France was still lacking charging stations at regular intervals on long journeys!!
We started mentioning to owners that we had an all electric vehicle and were fortunate that we were always offered the use either an EV charger or an outdoor socket to recharge. I wasn’t sure whether we should offer a payment, however as you say it’s a minimal cost and we found something like a thank you and a foodie gift on departure was sufficient and less awkward than “negotiating” a payment
Fingers crossed for a future site update!

It would be nice to see this feature. We drive our EV to all our sits in Europe (20,000 km + per year) and we always ask if we can plug in before doing so. My cars app keeps a record of level 1 charging so we can calculate and leave money to reimburse the HO based on local electricity costs.
Interesting you say that. We have found France quite well serviced in regards to chargers but we mostly use Tesla Superchargers. Now Portugal is another issue all together.
Yes, over the past year it’s improved a lot. We are seeing chargers popping up all over and in smaller towns and villages. We picked a bad time to experiment and often longed for a Tesla
Our listing tells sitters that there’s a charging station (at a shopping center) only two miles from our home. Since there isn’t a choice for that in the amenity list.
