How can I see if a sitter has not received a review for a sit

In response to some posts, members have advised that homeowners look at a potential sitter’s profile to see whether s/he has not received reviews for some sits. However, I don’t see how it’s possible to do this. Can someone please advise? Thanks!

You can see it in the app, not the web page - version.

It might be nice if a moderator woud step in. I don’t believe it is possible to find this in the app. You can see if a host is missing reviews on the app. You cannot see if a sitter is missing reviews on the app.

Yes, @marion is right. It’s not possible to see, if a sitter has missing reviews.

On the app you can see, if a HO has any missing reviews.

I guess you could only see it from the page of the host - the sitter have a spot in the review-line-up of the host. But when you access the sitters page, the review of the host can’t be found.

In my opinion it doesn’t always say much. I have done sits in the past where I didn’t ask or give a review, but still these sits were satisfactory for both parties. Not everyone is as active online.

Where and how exactly? I don’t see it in the app either.

On the app, click on the sitter’s Reviews section, then it shows each review one by one left to right, showing the most recent first. You have to swipe left to see the next one. If a HO has not left a review, it will show the HO, the dates of the sit, and a blank space underneath.

This is also the case for sitters. So when you find one, you could cross reference them to get more info. For example, as a sitter, I check if HOs have missing reviews. When I find one, I click to see if the HO left one for the sitter. Sometimes people who become regulars, don’t feel the need to keep leaving a review for the same people. But the fact they keep returning means it’s ok!
But other times you can sense a pattern of recurring issues.

Thank you! I guess that none of the sitters whose profiles I’ve looked at have a sit without a review: It’s hard to view something that isn’t there, but I know now how to find it.

@BillyBonnieBenji it’s not the same for sitters and hosts .

You can see where a host didn’t receive a review from a sitter . (As you described above a blank space under the sit dates )

However no one can see where a sitter didn’t get a review from a host - because there is no record of sits without reviews shows up on the sitter’s public profile .

A sitter will see it on their own sitter profile - but that sit information doesn’t appear on the public profile .

@BillyBonnieBenji @Silversitters is correct- you can only see missing reviews for hosts- and only on the App. It appears as a blank space under the sitters name and dates. If a sitter does not get a review the sit will not show at all. Since missing reviews are often viewed as a red flag I, as a sitter don’t mind at all- I prefer to have no gaps showing! In reality we actually have 3 missing reviews. On our own profile we can see those three gaps but no one else can. I discovered this anomaly, one of many, a few years ago when cross referencing reviews for a potential sit.

Oh ok, thank you. Sorry I thought it was the same for sitters. I was certain it was like that a year or two ago, because I cross-referenced sits and HOs quite often. I do a lot fewer sits now, and usually my regulars.

No it’s never been possible to see from a sitters profile .

This got a bunch of likes, but this is just not true.

Wow, it makes me so frustrated to know that as a HO I cannot see/check if the sitter did a sit but has not got a review. Why is that? I assume that people with few reviews are just people who have not done many sits, and not that they just didnt get reviewed! I understand the reason they didnt get the review could be other than “they did not do a good job” but why is there no transparency about this? I really do not get it!

@Petrica This is one of many descrepancies in THS! But from personal experience I think it is much less common for sitters to have missing reviews than hosts. We ourselves have 3 missing reviews out of 116 sits but in the early days of our membership (pre blind reviews) we sometimes did not review the host (for various reasons) but we certainly always requested a review. Sitters are very much vested in building their reputation with reviews. Pre blind reviews when it was called ‘review’ for sitter and ‘feedback’ to host (with no star categories) I think less emphasis/importance was placed on hosts getting feedback/review hence you often see gaps on Host profiles for earlier sits, where the sitter was not really prompted or expected to give a review.
With the blind reviews and the introduction of categories to rate hosts THS has aimed to equalize this process. Certainly we now review every sit we do, and more honestly! as the fear of retaluation has been removed.
However keeping missing sitter reviews hidden but not host reviews still makes the system unequal for those wanting to do a thorough cross checking. Personally, as a sitter, I prefer there being no gaps on our profile showing! But I can understand your frustration!

Thanks for your input, it has been very helpful. but still this just makes me not really trust a site that has word trusted in its name :unamused:

@Petrica I think its also important to remember that THS is only a kind of ‘introduction’ platform. Its up to sitters and hosts alike to research the other party to the best of their ability and to ask and answer all necessary questions and choose the right match. In your case I would suggest you go for more experienced sitters with an excellent track record of 5* reviews. Even if an experienced sitter does have the odd missing reviews (which you won’t know about) there can be any number of reasons for it. Some hosts might just forget, if not prompted by the sitter, some hosts just don’t do reviews even though its known to be the currency of THS. Pre blind reviews some hosts may have been reluctant to review if they had anything negative to say, for fear of a retaliatory review from the sitter. Etc etc
At the end of the day, having done your due diligence, you need to trust your gut.

@Rekap71 if you COULD find missing reviews for sitters or Ho’s please consider that, as many have indicated,
(1) a lot of sitters don’t always ask for reviews with repeat sits
(2) if one party, sitter or HO, leaves a review and the other party’s membership expires before the 14 day window, then. the unfinancial party cannot leave a review and thus leaves a glaring ‘no review gap’.

So perhaps if all else looks good and is spoilt by that ’ no review gap’, ask the question before you discard that sitter or HO from your consideration.
