I don’t use the app. But I’m sure that I used to be able to click on the HO’s profile on the website and see a list of all the previous housesits and the sitters reviews. If a sitter didn’t leave a review then there would be an empty spot. I used those empty reviews to evalute any issues with a prospective sit. Now I can’t see any gaps, when I saw them before (on HOs profiles).
It would be great if trustedhousesitters would link HO’s AirBnB accounts to their profile, especially when there’s no reviews. This would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
We’re sitters and we’re on airbnb among other sites, but I would never link it to THS as the address is traceable because if someone is on airbnb they are likely to be on other sites too, and ANYONE can read our THS profiles and I don’t want random people knowing I am off travelling away from the property while sitting if our property happens to be empty, likewise for HO’s random viewers of the THS site will be able to trace their address and know when they have holiday dates in the same way. We do give HO’s our link, but via a personal message instead.
I’ve always presumed that THS must ask for an airbnb link, because they have an affiliate association with them, so are cashing here and there, given whether it is HO’s or sitters, we all need to pay for accommodation at some point. But I have no idea whether that is true or not, it just makes sense from a business perspective on THS’s side.

I don’t understand. It’s only a link to AirBnB reviews which are posted after someone has left a property they’ve stayed at, sometimes 2 weeks later and it never gives someone’s home address.
I wouldn’t add THS to my AirBnb, if that’s what you mean.
As a sitter you can add your AirBnb reviews so HO’s can see how you are as a guest. I’m just suggesting it would be good to see HO’s reviews to see what they’re like.
Yes it doesn’t give the address, but I see it as especially bad for HO’s, because if a place is on airbnb they are highly likely to be on other platforms too (the bigger ones like Booking.com, hotels.com, and expedia.com etc etc) and you can figure out between the sites what a vague address is, and so if someone was nasty and knew the area, they’d be able to figure out the actual address by the pics given on the various sites (which usually includes the front of the house view on THS by HO’s), and would know-know when it was due to be empty via THS by simply keeping an eye on the dates that are posted (given they only need to watch the 1 area they are in).
But I’m sure there’s easier ways for bad people to do things, I’m not taking any chances with mine, given I can just pop the details in a personal message anyway, but for HO’s I see it as a lot worse for HO’s with the info/photos, and description of the location that they put on THS, matched with the map/location details on the other booking sites.
I think we’re talking about different things.
I’m not talking about a HO linking to an AirBnB account if they’re renting their property on there, that would be nuts. I’m talking about if a person used AirBnbs to see reviews at places they’ve stayed at. My Airbnb comment was just a side note to my question on here.
I’ll check my Airbnb later as I wasn’t aware that my address would be able to be seen if I just use it for accomodation. That doesn’t make sense to me. Thanks for highlighting that.
Unfortunately, the gaps of a no-review sit only show on HO profiles (not sitters) and only show on the app (not the website). So you will have to download the app to see those again!
