Hi all, I had an application a few weeks ago that I rejected. He said this “Hi Emma, your dogs and cats would love hanging out with me! Do they have any special diets they need to keep to? Please write me back.”I rejected the application, didn’t send a reason. I tend to not accept lone men with strange profiles as I’m a single woman.
2 weeks pass and he sends me a message yesterday saying “ I could’ve been the love of your live. Oh well. haha.”
This is obviously extremely inappropriate, I didn’t respond but there also doesn’t seem to be an option to block or report someone…Anyone had something like this before? What, if anything did you do about it?
To report someone you will need to raise a member dispute with member services so that they can investigate and remove the person from the platform.
Be sure to title your e-mail “MEMBER DISPUTE” and state in your first sentence that you are raising a member dispute over harassment and serious inappropriate behaviour and that you want the person to be removed from the platform to protect yourself and other members from this harassment.
@eco1988, ugh, I’m so sorry you had that experience. Please do report the person per SS’s instructions! That could be a safety issue for an inexperienced HO.
@eco1988 but are you not curious if he could have been the love of your life?! No, in all seriousness, that is definitely inappropriate and yes, please report this. Hopefully membership services can give him some pointers on appropriate communication.
Hopefully membership services can simply boot him from the platform. This is not a dating site, and even on a dating site that feels like the kind of thing often accompanied by a d*** pic.
I was going to say he might get the boot, but realistically, I don’t think he will get booted. Happy to stand corrected, of course. Thinking about it, I remember there was another thread about inappropriate comments by a sitter during a housesit - that was also very creepy - the sitter sending the lady suggestive messages while sitting in her house. Yikes.

Sorry you had to deal with this. It’s unfortunate that there’s people like that on THS that give us single male sitters a bad name.

I don’t know why but I thought that also happened to @eco1988 and she had problems with another sitter…? #happytobewrong No, just checked, not that HO. But I do remember @botvot someone else getting creepy messages mid sit from their sitter.

I think I remember that one. Wasn’t the sitter asking about her house value and wanting her to enlist in some business dealings (had shady pyramid scheme vibes)?
That’s creepy too but it wasn’t that one in my head @botvot. I think it was the pyramid selling, house value one @MaggieUU remembers and the sitter was still in situ asking personal questions about their life…#strangerandstrangerthoughtalice
I remember a previous thread where the sitter ( male) was sleeping in the homeowner’s bed - not guest bedroom that was prepared for them . They had posted photos of that on social media where they were wearing the HO’s ( female) robe - as well as sending inappropriate messages to them during their stay.
I had something like this happen in my brief foray as an (absent) Airbnb host. I traveled for work and occasionally had guests stay in my 1 BR home, e.g…, an older couple one time, a small family another time. This solo guy sent me “hey sweet cheeks” etc. messages after the stay. And there was more, but I have to get back to work. Suffice it to say that was that for me and Airbnb. I’m also wary as a guest when there’s a solo man or the occasional creepy husband.
I haven’t had any direct response from THS yet but in checking my inbox on the app, his profile says “inactive for now”… not sure what that means or why they haven’t got back to me but will let you know…

She has even promised to contact me first before she goes away next time. It will be through THS, so all legal…
