I know I’m not alone in saying that I’ve been finding it highly frustrating that THS appears to be doing very little about the problems members are finding with the website and app.
There are so many issues that have been highlighted over the years (yes years) which have still not been put right, let alone acknowledged. While I’m not particularly techy, there are plenty of people here who are and seem to think most of the problems could easily be resolved.
Some that come to mind are:
A way to delete the sits that aren’t appropriate so that they never show up again in searches
A star system (as I suggested some time ago which members voted for) whereby slow responders are gradually docked stars the longer they take to reply.
When searching for a sit in a particular area, sits located 50-100 miles away should not be showing up.
An instant communication as soon as a sit in saved search field is listed
It would be nice to be able to see how many applicants have applied for sits even if sitting during those dates
There are many more issues, such as the app should work in tandem with the website, but these are what currently come to mind. I’m sure members will remind THS what they are.
So, come on THS, let us know if you are actively looking into resolving these soon. Please don’t adjust things that work either!
I have written to Membership Services asking why you are not now allowed to see what you have written to anyone in the past and what is the logic
I am waiting for a response
Totally agree! I also suggested point #2 - a star system years ago. I belonged to another house sit site for a year that did this and it seemed to work very well. What makes me laugh is that THS isn’t slow about sending out surveys, etc. to us members to gain feedback but not doing anything after obtaining the feedback. I received an email yesterday titled “How did WE do” asking for feedback on my recent sit. I honestly had to think about what recent sit I did as it was two weeks ago so it wasn’t entirely fresh in my mind as THS described. I was tempted to reply that THS did nothing - I the sitter did the work so really why should I provide feedback to boost THS’s ratings!
@Cuttlefish, curious. While we’ve been housesitting full-time for 18 months then we’re relatively new to the THS Forum/Community. I don’t have experience of long-term platform niggles but would offer incremental ideas to your wishlist:
Introduce search geography for region of Continental Europe (i.e. excluding UK) or Eurozone countries or equivalent
Permit Premium members to have briefly overlapping housesits (e.g. for couples, and provided duly disclosed to Pet Parents)
Upgrade coverage terms of Sit Cancellation Insurance
Replace meaningless ‘high speed wifi’ amenity with a small number of objectively defined internet attributes (e.g. x-y Mbps)
introduce 2FA on THS website
Obligate Pet Parents to prepare Welcome Guide (and list amenities) prior to live listing
Housesitter ability to blacklist specific Pet Parents from future search results
@Smiley
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security method that requires two forms of identification to access data and resources. It’s a type of multi-factor authentication (MFA) that adds an extra layer of security to the traditional username and password login. 2FA helps protect against phishing, social engineering, and password brute-force attacks.

@MaggieUU I suggestwd this a while back. When you think about how valuable the info in our accounts are and the damage to your reputation that could be done if it were hacked, it beggars belief that this, almost routine security these days, doesnt exist on our THS accounts. But it needs to be an authenticator app or maybe email, as many of us switch SIM cards regularly.
