Thank you ;o)
Which island are we talking about and which ferries are used to access it?
Tiree, ferry from Oban is the usual route
Would there be a contingency plan if your sitters arrived safely but you couldn’t leave/get off the island? What’s the maximum time the island has ever been cut off due to weather etc?
@BonnyinBrighton Good questions!
Our contingency plan would be a friend helping to look after furries but we have allowed a few days on either side for this.
A couple of days at the most, though between the ferry or flight we are able to get off the island.
Hi, we are in Tiree and the ferry leaves from Oban.
Would sitters have exclusive use of the house if a few days overlap or would you accommodate them elsewhere? It’s worth putting that into the listing…
There is nothing better for fraternisation than extreme weather conditions, earthquakes, volcano eruptions, etc etc.
We’ve experienced all of that volcanoes earthquakes plus being stranded on a remote island in the South Pacific… where there’s no RAF rescue helicopters
Hi, unfortunately no there are only 2 bedrooms but they would have the main bedroom in which they would stay when we are gone. Good idea. Will do. Thank you
Sorry, trying to look up your listing as well, what island is it? Thanks
I’ve been to Oban once, loved it.
I won’t do long sits on my own in winter though. Tried that and it was a bit too gloomy, even in my beloved Sweden (I was there for most of February - almost never saw the sun).
But December is more festive in Sweden, also in Scotland I suppose.
Good point, a bit jollier than February I guess.
Psst @BonnyinBrighton England is an island
Correction is on an island
England isn’t an island, it’s part of one
I lived there (Stockholm) for a year and we didn’t even see the sun in Summer… It rained every single day in August, and the snow began again in early October
@Nagy26
Oh, that was bad luck about the summer I guess?
I was in Sweden again in June and the weather was glorious!
We are probably going to get told off again for changing the topic… Sorry Carla!
I’m sure the island despite the weather will have its perks and attractions for some people out there
