Looking for sitters in San Diego - how long does it take?

Hello! We were just recommended THS for an upcoming vacation. We live in central San Diego. I haven’t even created my profile yet but I’m wondering how quickly people typically find sitters? We’re looking to have someone stay at our home for 2 weeks in June. Does that seem reasonable to set up in 2 months?? Looking forward to exploring this website- we love the idea of allowing people to travel and experience our favorite city while our dogs get to remain at home!

I would think that’s enough time. Make sure your listing is as attractive as possible as there will no doubt be competition. Have a look at other sits in San Diego. If you want sitters here to give you feedback as to how it could be improved, if necessary, then post it to your profile when you’ve written it so we can have a read. Here’s how to do that:

Thank you for your response- it’s a great idea to look for other local listings for ideas. I’ll work on my profile this week and then reach back out. Thanks!

Hi @2DogsinSunnySD. Welcome to TrustedHousesitters and the forum. My mom lives in a senior community in San Diego with no space for overnight guests, so I look for pet sits every time I visit her. That’s generally 3-4 times a year.

Unlike many other cities, sits in SD are typically posted less than a month before the sit start date. And lots of sitters would love to sit in sunny SD, so sits generally reach the 5 applicant limit fast.

If you post you listing before then, you’ll have a great chance of attracting sitters who are a bit more planful, as they’ll already be watching for those sunny sits (even with June gloom ). And youll have less competition from other sit listings, too.
