My First Pet Sit…..Ollie in Chicago!

Day 1 with Ollie in Chicago

Day 2 with Ollie in Chicago

As a recently retired, workaholic, broker, and realtor in Carmel, California, I am loving my first pet sit with Ollie in Chicago. My husband and I recently moved from California to Holland, Michigan with our two dogs. We have an apartment at our house that we are exchanging through Home Exchange. I learned about trusted house sitters at the same time and from the same person that told me about home exchange. I decided that trusted housesitters would be a perfect way for me to spend time with a fuzzy friend while visiting my mom, daughter, and friends across the country. Also, my husband and I love traveling to Europe And we are having trusted house sitters. Stay at our house for one month.

I made a video for my first two days with Ollie. Tomorrow will be my last day and I sent it to the homeowner and pet owner who loved it.

I’m unable to upload it here so I popped it onto my YouTube real estate page from the past and named the playlist JETTE pet sits and dogs or something like that but here are the links to my video one and video two of my first two days on a pet sit ever! Of course I have pet sit a ton throughout my real estate career. I mainly worked with sellers so they would usually only trust me to access the house with their pets and would often go out of town and I would babysit, feed them or both I mean everything like major tortoises, snakes, rabbits, hamsters, chickens, cats, and dogs, obviously, and even one mule!

It seemed all of my clients said animals because that tends to be the type of person I attract as a fellow animal lover !

I set up my first two pet sits within three hours of our new home in Michigan. My next one will be next month in Kalamazoo for two dogs ironically, I already have pet sit scheduled for Denver to visit my mother and Seattle to visit my daughter with approval for her to stay two weekends with me on a two week sit!

I guess I am very blessed that people are trusting me without references in advance, but of course I managed to $40 million property and was background checked for that and of course, as a real estate broker, you are licensed and fingerprinted, etc. I am not sure if those are the reasons but I am happy that I was selected.

Luckily, I wore my socks into the basement because I notified the owner immediately of a massive leak. The carpet was squishy soft and she sent a repairman within a few hours. I am still drying it with a fan, but it will be resolved by tomorrow before I end up leaving.

OK, I’m hoping this is approved because I really want people to understand that a first time sitter on THS is not a bad thing. I am using a first time sitter from Indiana for my own pets when I go on vacation in July in Indiana. Also, I am using experience sitters for one month when I go to Europe with my husband in September.

I’m looking forward to making friends. I have a feeling the attorney who I’m babysitting for right now. We want to swap houses with us and she can bring Ollie to Michigan and we can bring our dogs to Chicago. I think it’s such a win-win meeting people that love to travel in love animals thank you for the opportunity.
