New review system - Mega thread

I had a similar issue with the new system. A past sitter reviewed me, and I could see their name and the number of stars in two separate emails that I received.

Just completed my first review using the new system. On a mobile phone (which is how I access THS ) there is only a small window to see what you are writing in your review (about 5 lines) .

Therefore it wasn’t possible to read over the whole review before submitting and check for mistakes/ typos . I was concerned that if I scrolled up or down I would touch the submit button (which strangely appears in the middle of the screen ) and then would submit an incomplete review .

The previous review system allowed you to see your whole review and check and edit before submitting. The new system doesn’t.

I also could not initially find how to leave a review - as “past sits” has disappeared from the menu on the app. The only way I could do it was to click the link in the e-mail sent by THS .

@Carla please pass this feedback to the product team. Thank you.

New Review system Positives

Along with the request to review the e-mail I received included an invitation to leave a review directly with THS team about the sit and that this could include things that I didn’t feel comfortable putting in my review .

I think this feature is really great and I hadn’t seen it discussed previously- as far as I can see you can only access this feature from the e-mail you get when you complete a sit .

@Carla is this the only way to access this new feature ?

Is that intentional? Does THS want to discourage long reviews?

@pietkuip - I wondered the same , but without the categories to rate a homeowner (that appear on a sitters review )a long review is sometimes necessary.

Now the review has been submitted it’s possible to see the full screen and the review in it’s entirety - just not whilst writing it .

I just reread the information about the new review system and found this part quite amusing🤣

Can’t say we’ve had and particularly furry or hairy homeowners on our sits so far - but good to know that they are not excluded from leaving a review

@Silversitters Probably that’s the new politically correct term for pets

No. That review window closed two weeks earlier, for sits where neither I nor the HO had reviewed, AND for those where one of us had reviewed and the other had not.

If a HO’s review of me had shown up, and on my side it said “Review window has closed,” I would not have been happy about that.

Hello, @Shawtho2 I can help you with that one. The new review system is now live. It could be that your sitters got an email that they have received a review and a prompt to leave you one, they should not have seen the content of your review. If you have any concerns please reach out to the Membership Services team as they can check everything is as it should be when leaving reviews.

@Daisy999 Thank you for your feedback, it is always helpful for the team to know how a new feature is working once it has been launched. I have passed that back on for you and when I get an update about the review/edit option I will let you know.

@BackpackHousesitter Sorry if there was any confusion, those emails were part of the old system and should not be appearing as part of the new system, if you received these after the new review system was live please DM me the date and times of these/ a screenshot and I can get someone to look into them further for you.

@Silversitters I have passed on your feedback and will update you about the edit options when I know more. For the ‘past sit’ section on the app, if you click on your dashboard icon, there will be a link to your ‘past sit’ page.

I love your new review positives and this is a new feature - great spot! The Membership Services team can help you if you have any more questions about this.

Also, Thank you for sharing the screenshot, I have passed that back to the team @ziggy that was brilliant

@Katie It might be worth reaching out to the Membership Services team if you feel that any of the reviews did not act as you expected them to during the transition to the new review system. They will be able to look at your account and assist you further. Thank you

14 posts were merged into an existing topic: Past sits not showing in app

I was just letting THS know that it didn’t work as intended.

The app says it needs an update, but when I hit update, it goes around in circles and does not update.

This doesn’t happen with other apps.

@Katie That does sound strange, I am not sure why it is doing that? Membership Services should be able to help, or if any forum member has experience with updating apps and troubleshooting please jump in

This is just another quick update for you all in regards to reviews.

There were previously several suggestions from members to make sitters reviews and owners feedback the same name to limit confusion and to make it equal.

So for anyone who has not yet noticed - they are now all called reviews!

@Smiley @UrsulaS @mars @Lokstar @anon47943759 I am tagging you as I can see that you were some of the forum members who made this suggestion on other threads previously. Thank you for feeding this back and helping make changes

@Carla thank you for the update. I have indeed noticed that for both sides its now termed ‘review’ however there is still not the equality that I, and many others would have wished for in the new review system. Sitters still don’t have the ability to rate owners in 5 categories the way owners can rate sitters. There is still a bias towards owners despite the name change. Disappointing.

@Lokstar You are most welcome! Thats a great point, another little update in case you missed it as the thread is quite long now, the team are working on the owner’s categories now the review system has been launched (they needed to make sure that went smoothly first). We will update you all here when they are launched

As a new THS member and potential sitter…
I would suggest some rewording on the auto generated messages sent to non selected applicants. Now the system sends a message, application denied.
A better wording might be: thanks for your application, homeowner selected another sitter.
Being new…reading you are denied even if homeowner invited you apply, with no follow up
Doesn’t promote the all inclusive environment the site is trying to promote. You might have more sitters applying for sits.
Just a thought.

That is not what I get.

The subject header says: “An Update on Your Sit Application”

And then there is sympathy: "“Great work on applying to sit for xxxx in yyyy on 23 Oct - 29 Oct 2023. We’re sorry you didn’t get selected this time around.”

And then encouragement about all the fish in the sea: “Don’t get discouraged! Rest assured, there are plenty more pets looking for a sitter just like you.”

@Carla
I’m sorry if this has been answered but I can’t find it.
Regarding the 14 day window…
Let’s say I finished a sit a couple of days ago and I have my review ready to go but the HO (don’t like the new “PP” acronym as we’ve sat homes with no pets and I had one HO tell me they did not give birth to animals and do not like the new label either…) has not left me one within the 14 day frame. What happens to my review? Does it never get posted bc they don’t leave me one or does it get posted regardless?
Trying to foresee this situation happening.
Thanks!
