Our THS pet-friendly virtual cafe!

So not fair @Samox24 :joy: we’re giving our leased car back tomorrow. So staying near CDG Paris, went down for dinner to be told “we’re booked out”! Sitting in our room eating leftover cheese, olives and biscuits :wine_glass:and the last of a bottle of red. Yours looks delicious

@Verityandjulian You might want to check whether Deliveroo can bring you food. I use it and other such services at various places, including hotels.

Great thinking @Maggie8K :+1:t2:

Just popping in to share my happy breakfast moment from this morning.
Being someone from the UK who now lives in the USA finding shops that stock any yummy and nostalgic treats from home fills me with delight.

Marmite you either love it or hate it as the saying goes and I love it! :yum:

Readybrek brings back childhood memories of cold mornings and warm porridge, it was snowing here in Colorado so I was very happy to have this earlier in the week.

I would love to hear if anyone can relate to missing certain foods when away from home. I am also enjoying the new foods I am finding!

@Carla If you’ve not already checked out CostPlus World Market, that chain carries a number of British foods / snacks (including Marmite) at reasonable prices.

@Maggie8K No I haven’t, I will get Google out to find one, that is now firmly on my list!! Thank you for the recommendation and my husband is now a Marmite convert

Stopping by to share picture moments from our canine afternoon tea on Bainbridge Island, WA …
Puppies had lots of treats, humans had bubbles, G&T’s and yes Yorkshire Gold Tea & Cakes

Such good dogs   :dog:

Good morning from South Africa. Unfortunately no animals have joined me yet at our private little waterhole while I am drinking my coffee.
Meanwhile, our cats are taken care of by a sitter couple at home in rainy Germany.

Love Meyer lemons. So fragrant. Your photo reminded me of a gift that someone sent me once: It was all of the ingredients for her favorite drink, along with the recipe, because she knew I enjoy cocktails. She included a Meyer lemon from her family’s tree.

Thanks, Maggie. Yes, that tree is so fragrant and bountiful. While I’m picking one season’s fruit, there are green lemons waiting to ripen and flowers blooming of the next round to come.

That sounds lovely!

Tks @Maggie8K, you are sweet, but we had food and HAD to eat it or ditch it so when dinner was “booked out” (euphomism (?) for we have spare tables but don’t want to use them, we decided to have a party in our room

Hello everyone. It’s Sunday and I just came across this post. Love the community here.

I just recently applied for 2 sits and still waiting for a decision. Hopefully I’m selected so I can get away and help a family.

I just gave up my apartment in Colorado to move my belongings to my daughter’s house in Oklahoma. I bought a van to travel but with the holidays I don’t want to go too far but I want to give my daughter some space.

Are there any other sitters that travel in a van and take on house sitting to get off the road every so often?

Thanks!
Stacey

Hi @StaceyAnn and welcome to the forum! Yes, there are people, even families, that travel in a camper van from sit to sit. Here are some discussions from the past:

You could resurrect one of these topics by posting to it and restart the discussion.

Good morning, everyone! (afternoon/evening for those in different parts of the world!)

I’m really happy to see things have been steady in here over the weekend, especially since there’s been more talk of cheese, and my beloved marmite!

How was everyone’s weekend?

Sitting down to breakfast. After that, I’ll be pre-prepping some fondue for lunch.

Went on a Trader Joe’s run over the weekend. I wanted to pick up this spice mix that I found out about at my most recent sit, which is great on avocado toast.

For folks not familiar with Trader Joe’s, it might be worth checking out if you’re sitting in the U.S.: It’s a popular supermarket chain.

I don’t normally do any grocery shopping, because my husband does all the cooking, but TJ’s has so many snacks and pre-prepared food (in addition to other groceries) that I love going there. When I have family visiting from abroad, they love going to TJ’s too.

I also love TJ’s because they carry a good cheese selection.
