Do my Owner reviews have any bearing on if I add dual membership to also be a Sitter? My hubby and I are considering adding the dual membership so we can ALSO be Sitters. We have about six 5-Star reviews on our home as Owners. Does this translate at all since we will be new sitters? Or can someone see our Owner reviews if we are also Sitters? tell me everything you can as someone with a dual membership please.
Hello, yes you will be brand new sitters but you can mention it in your profile that you are a combined member and also host sitters. You will not have any reviews but you can get some endorsements. In the old inbox both profiles were linked and I was able to see if the owners are also sitters. That functionality was later removed in the new and improved inbox.
Combined sitter here! If you combine you will have both a sitter profile that you’ll need to fill in and your existing “listing.” These are both handled through your dashboard but they are separate. So you don’t get credit for your reviews as a homeowner. You can add references from people that you’ve housesat for or even just character references to attest to who you are and the care you give your own pets, but actual sitting you’ve done for friends or relatives will probably be the most helpful type of references.
I mention on my sitter profile that I also use THS as a pet parent, as my pet ownership is a big part of my experience with pets and homes, I think this helps me get sits! I also include a link to my listing with my application. Because sometimes links don’t go through on the THS message system I break up the link. I don’t know if homeowners actually go there or not, but I think it is another helpful thing to establish “trust.”
Just want to add two quick points about combining:
A combined member is a member who both sits and hosts.
A duo membership is an extra amount of dollars you pay to have two people listed as sitters. This is a recent invention by THS. Many sitters use the “&” to add a person who usually accompanies them on sits. There is no additional charge for this. These people – friends, partners, spouses, were not vetted by THS the same way that primary sitters are. A while back THS introduced “duo memberships". For extra dollars you could get the secondary person “vetted”. This was advertised as something homeowner woud want. This also allows you to do “overlaps” of I believe 48 hours which is good for full time sitters.
While I usually sit with my spouse, I see no reason to add this feature. A premium combined membership is already a lot! I don’t think most homeowners care. Because my spouse doesn’t have the “background check” that US primary sitters have, I usually offer a couple of websites mentioning him to verify his identity if he is accompanying me. I also make it clear in applications if he is coming, and if I know he isn’t coming for the full time, I let homeowners know that too. So my advise would be do not pay for the “duo” sit feature, just the combined.
thanks so much, very helpful!
great info, good idea to send the link to my house listing! yep i can get friends to write me some recommendations for sure. thanks for taking the time to share your experience and advice.

I am a combined owner & sitter. I mention this in both my sitter profile and owner listing. When I apply for sits I include a link to my owner listing in my application so the owners can see that I keep a neat and tidy home. They can also easily read reviews sitters have left for me.
