Hello guys. I have upcoming 7 sits, so I have a lot of flying ahead. As I read I understand that sit cancelation refunds for hotel is quite hard process and would not be worth it, but what about lounge passes? Sorry for the question, but I have never used one so just curious how it works through this membership. I have about 15 flights ahead so would that be great use of premium membership? Are these lounges available in any airport for any flight? Do you have to still pay any fees for using this extra? Most of the flights gonna be in EU, but still some flights gonna be in US. I would like to hear from someone who uses this extra!
If you are primarily interested in lounge passes and opt not to sign up for premium here, there are credit cards which offer those as part of their benefits. There is also PriorityPass, which you can sign up for and gives you access to many lounges throughout the world. Some credit cards also offer Priority Pass free as part of their credit card benefits.
We have a premium membership and have actually used the cancellation insurance when the day a sit was to begin the house froze solid. It was not difficult to make a claim. Despite all our travels we have yet to be able to use the lounge passes. They need preplanning and often our layovers do not allow for a lounge visit. Also, we only get two a year with the upgraded membership. We do not think they alone are a good reason to upgrade membership. By far our favorite feature of the upgrade was the ability to set up more search alerts and get notifications of sits much sooner. This allows us to be more competitive on the really popular locations.
Hi there. We have used the lounge passes and it was all very straightforward.
Email membership services well in advance with the flight details and most importantly, the terminal for them to check if they have the participating lounges there.
If they do, it’s as simple as saying yes please and they email the voucher to you.
We showed these on our phones at the lounge and enjoyed the facilities and there was nothing to pay.
The sit cancellation to cover hotel costs is not hard it just has some requirements that need to be met and may take a few months to pay out so you need to have enough money to cover them yourself until them:
The cancellation must be within 14 of the start date or during the sit. If earlier no cover.
You must inform THS within 24 hours of the cancellation and must try to find another sit in the area.
The cancellation must be by the HO not by you or because of you breaking any terms.
You must stay within 20 miles of the sit location (so don’t travel to your next sit or stay at your previous one)
You must stay in a hotel/airbnb etc not in a friends house. Basically paid accomodation.
You will get a maximum back of 150 a night, 1500 in total for the cancelled sit period, 30 days in total for the year. they will take back 150 for each cancelled sit payout as an excess payment.

You can get 2 lounge passes so either 2 separate visits for you or 2 for the same visit if you travel with someone. As others have said you can email support to get them. It takes a few days so give it enough time.

We used lounge passes last year, we had never used them before and enjoyed the experience. Everything in the lounge was free with nothing extra to pay.
We’ve used the lounge passes - was easy but needed to contact THS a few days in advance. As mentioned in earlier responses, we also have lounge passes through a credit card. Re Sit Cancellation Insurance, the policy requirements seem strict. We were ineligible after a Pet Parent cancelled on us last year in California. But we were eligible just recently after a Pet Parent cancelled at last minute. Suggest that you read policy terms (see earlier weblink) prior to potential use.
During one of our first housesits, in Portugal, a Pet Parent encouraged that we explore Easyjet Plus membership (An easier way to travel with easyJet Plus). Not cheap but benefits are considerable and aid experience on European flights (you mentioned 15, mostly EU, flights).
