Guess what? There’s now a Banksy Museum in Brussels!
The museum recreated over 130 Banksy creations in replicas of the gardens, prisons, hotels, schools and more that were the original canvases for the works. Visitors also get to view and learn about some of the works by Banksy that have been erased or destroyed in their original form.
@Crookie not sure if you managed to see this Banksy mural, it is located at the corner of Acklam and Portobello Road.
The Girl with Balloon I remember seeing at South Bank London on Waterloo Bridge and it was at other locations in London although sadly none remain of this mural there now.
We both love to hunt out Banksy murals wherever we are in the world!
Not seeing much street art here in Turkiye yet, but did come across this small offering in the old town of Antalya, where we are staying for a few days, closely guarded by the local “kediler” (cats).
.
@Amparo I wondered who might zoom in on that … The people here are kind, sensitive and gentle from our experience so far and best of all they LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their cats too. Happy Christmas and a fab New Year to you too xx
Banksy’s mural Girl with a Pierced Eardrum - a parody of Girl with a Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer which appeared in the street artist’s home city of Bristol in 2014. A face mask was added in a nod to the coronavirus pandemic, which I spotted and photographed this back in 2020 when in Bristol. It is not known who put it on the wall.
I don’t have a photo of this … years ago we were at a public park in Ganges, on Salt Spring Island, BC, Canada. My wife stepped into the ladies’ WC and came out with a big smile on her lovely face. I asked “what gives?” … she reported that the mirror was broken over the sink, and in it’s place was graffiti that read “You Are Beautiful!” … such a fine expression of sensibilities in that part of Canada!
