I had seen on this forum that you can view the amount of sits an applicant has done, including those that didn’t leave a review but I’m not sure how to view that. I had heard it was only available through the mobile app but I have installed that and still don’t see anything. Is there a way to currently see this? Thanks!
When I’m on a browser, I only see verified reviews and when I’m the mobile app I only see the sits that have left a review. I did specifically look up a past sitter I didn’t leave a review for and can’t see that under her profile.
correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure missing reviews no longer show on sitter profiles, either on app or web. Only HO profiles show missing reviews. One of those times sitters benefit from THS’s weird imbalance.
Thanks for the info. That’s crazy! If you have it for one, why not have it for the other? I have to try to find that post on enhancements to the platform and mention this. I feel that functionality should be for both or none.
@bornonthecoast It’s likely a decision made due to a large number of hosts not leaving reviews. Doesn’t necessarily mean the experience was bad. I’ve had wonderful hosts who immediately asked if I could return for upcoming sits within the 14-day window, but I rarely do repeat sits cause it doesn’t fit my planning.
Can’t say that’s the reason they then decide not to leave a review…perhaps they figure you’ll never see that person again, so why bother. It doesn’t affect me though; I don’t hold it against them since I don’t “collect” reviews.
If profile/listing balances were anywhere equal, that would imply several things that aren’t currently present; The host’s address and identity would be checked and verified for safety and accuracy (which they aren’t), the hosts’ combined average rating in stars would be shown (which it isn’t), and both hosts and sitters could equally send and receive invites to connect (which they can’t) …the list goes on.
Apart from having so many to choose from, it’s really one of the few transparent upperhands sitters actually have before deciding whether or not to connect.
I’ve read other various reasons for people not leaving reviews on other forums as well. I definitely think it would be good information to have and use it as you see fit. If this is available for sitters and not for HO’s that makes no sense. Regardless, for me it would be good information to have.
…there is no good or bad information if you choose not to leave any. Just as there is no service to others in leaving dishonest reviews, or in THS “tweaking” reviews that are actually genuine.
So, never let reviews do the heavy lifting. Screen first, trust later.
Of course you screen and I do look at reviews as part of that process. There’s lots of reasons people may not leave a review but if it’s available through the app for sitters, it should be for HO’s as well.
I have 37 sits. One person, a young woman, didn’t leave a review. I think she just didn’t bother. I sent a request. I know she was happy with my sit, I have 5 star reviews, but she just didn’t bother. It could be like that.
I had a sit scheduled for this week, the host reached out to let me know she needs to cancel due to a family emergency. She has not cancelled the sit on THS and I am not going to bother her while she is dealing with the matter, so there is a good chance, I will have a sit show with no review.
I wouldn’t want them bothering her, but now that you mention it, she sent the message through THS so they might be able to do it without contacting her. I’ll check in with MS and see what they say.
I’m not too worried about a missing review and only mentioned it to provide an alternate reason that isn’t necessarily a poor reflection of the sitter but if this were to happen several times, I might stop finding such great hosts.
@mdarden1x if no review is left , then there will be record of the sit shown on your profile..
The sit ( and no review) will only show up on the hosts profile .
So no need to cancel unless you would like to apply for an another sit for those same dates or need to make a claim for the cancellation.
We have had a similar situation where the host had an accident and needed to cancel the sit . They messaged through THS and we contacted THS - support who cancelled the sit based on the THS inbox message . The host didn’t need to contact them as well . Like you we didn’t want to bother the host , but we did need the sit officially cancelled to make a Sit Cancellation claim .
