Sitter Saved Listing

Fairly new to the THS community. I searched, but didn’t readily find what I was looking for. I’ve received several notifications that a sitter has saved my listing. I’m assuming this means they saved my listing as in my house, location, etc…not a sit that I have posted? Or does it? I’ve received these notification even when my sits are already confirmed. Also, is there a place to see a list of who has saved my listing?

When a sitter saves your listing, it typically means they want to be automatically notified by the system if you post future dates. If they are available for your current dates, they will apply.

For example I am planning a trip to Sweden next Spring, but I’m not there now. When I see Swedish sits that look like a good fit now, I’ll save them so that if the host posts Spring dates, I get a notification. Also, a host can see that I have saved it and invite me (Sorry I don’t know how, since I don’t have a host account). It helps both sitters and hosts narrow down possible good fits.

However, some sitters will save everything in a particular city or region without actually reading the posts, so it isn’t a guarantee of anything.

Sitters may save listing because they get various prompts to save them so they’ll be “notified” when sits are available. They may save them because they are looking for sits like yours – especially in terms of location. I sometimes “favor” sits when I come across a listing, but I can’t do those dates, but I think, “I’d apply for this sit if the dates aligned.”

Sometimes by the time the notification comes in that sits are available, the listing is filled!

Reaching out to someone who favored your listing might work if the dates align, but it might not. It’s also an initial interest, not a lock, so even if the dates align, you and the sitter might find upon further reflection that it’s not a great match.

As a homeowner, I might reach out to sitters who favored my listing if the profiles and reviews look good, but I would not spend too much time doing this, as it is much more efficient to post, so sitters looking in your area and open to your kind of sit, can find you.

The last two sits I completed were for hosts who invited me because I had saved them as favorites. As others have said, I save them if they look like a sit I would enjoy, but either they are not currently in need of a sitter or the current dates do not work for me. Usually, I view my list of favorites, using the “accepting applications” filter, and if I see listings with dates that align with my schedule, I apply

Yep, as a sitter I save listings I like the look of, maybe the dates don’t quite work, or I haven’t made up my mind on location yet, but if it’s still available when I do, bonus for me. I didn’t know I would be notified when those list again, and thinking about it maybe I’m not doing it right as I’m not getting notifications.

I save two locations so that if any HOs list I’ll save them without reading the listing initially… later I’ll go through my favourites list weeding out any that are definitely not to my liking… either the pet or the home or both.

This might be an app vs website issue. I have not found an option to receive notifications by email, but I do receive push notifications for new listings from the app.

I’m fairly new to THS, so the way I do use the “favourite” button might not be the same as others. I save sits when I am interested in that particular sit i.e. we could probably do the dates and the location. As the household admin person, I then have to pin down my husband, confer with him, and make a decision whether or not to apply. If we don’t apply, we unsave the sit. Sometimes we have several saved for the same or similar dates because we are waiting on the outcome of other applications.
