Sitting offers direct via the app

I’ve been offered a sit by a HO who has had a sitter drop out. As the offer was made direct through the app email am I still covered by insurance and vet advice etc. Thanks in advance.

If you have been sent an invitation to private dates ( which you didn’t apply for but have been contacted directly by HO and invited ) if you click “accept “‘through the platform it will show on your dashboard as a confirmed sit.

This article explains what private and public dates are :

We have frequently been sent direct invitations to sit from the HO (that we haven’t applied to … ) these invitations have dates and we have the option to accept or decline .It’s not clear from your post above @Marcus if that is the kind of invitation that you have received?

Hello @Marcus@Silversitters offer clarification on process.

Your OP makes me wonder if there is more to your situation.

Keep in mind that from members posting on the forum…the insurance coverage like most insurances…is not a guarantee.

Also…the insurance I believe is specific to membership level.

@Marcus insurance coverage depends on your membership level and really only relates to a sit cancellation within 14 days.
If your sit has been formally confirmed through the THS site and is showing as a confirmed sit on your dashboard then you will receive all the benefits of your membership level including being able to give and receive a review.

If I’m understanding this correctly, you were offered a sit without a listing/listed dates? As in, they messaged you and asked “Do you want to do this sit?” without sending a confirmation request? If so, then no, that sit is not confirmed in the THS system and you will have no protections (or ability to leave a review). If you want to do the sit, ask them to send you a confirmation request. Once you get that, you hit confirmed and it becomes one of “your sits”. There is a paper trail and an ability to leave a review.
Hope that helps.

That is exactly what i wanted to know, it’sonly our second sit. Thank you.

Yea. I would not accept it unless they send you actual dates through the system that you then click confirm on. People do take sits or overlap dates in that manner but they do it knowing TH is not covering them.

If you want to do the sit, just message them back and say something like “great! Please send me a private request with the dates and I’ll confirm it blah blah blah…”
