🚨 Urgent - suspicious messages being received by members - do not open them!

I also received the invite from David in Cuenca, have just checked inboxes on both the app and desktop and the invite has disappeared. I haven’t received an email from the THS team about it.

I have received both of these spam sit invitations to my personal email today.

Obviously the THS database has been hacked or leaked .

Hello,

I’m new to posting, but this conversation and the situation with our accounts details being accessed externally has prompted me to do it. THS holds our personal information in terms of home addresses, finantial details and passports or other forms of id.

At this point, I would like to publicly request to know how far the breach has gone, what garantee do we have about personal details having been accessed or otherwise.

What provision does THS have to protect members in these kinds of circumstances?

Not only we have received emails, but we have individually and by name been contacted via the app. It seems to me this is a serious breach.

I sent an email to THS a few minutes ago.

Thank you

Elena

Fortunately, I don’t think that THS has our passports. If I understood correctly, that part is handled by a company Evident.

Hello @catscatscats24

TrustedHousesitters are actively investigating the incident and taking steps to enhance our platform’s security. This includes monitoring for suspicious activity and working to prevent future phishing attempts.

Thank you

Sam.

Do we know if this is a data breach?
Are our email addresses safe?
I’ve had this email address for a few years now and I’ve never had spam to it, I hope I don’t start getting any! Ive not clicked on link.

I immediately went and changed my password and tried to delete my credit card information from the auto renewal, but was given a message that if I do so when it’s time for my renewal that my membership price will no longer be honored at its current rate. Since nobody seems to understand how deep the data breach is I imagine there’s quite a few people who are not comfortable having their credit card information stored in your system at the moment.

I’ve had that one too

Agreed. I tried to do the same. I have written to support@trustedhousesitters.com asking them to advise what data may have been breached and what steps are being taken. Given the number of people reporting this issue I would have expected THS to issue a pinned note to the Forum Board and the front page of the website but have yet to see anything.

We had 2 messages/invites yesterday, i was just about to post on here.

Trusted needs to message all sitters and home owners as not all are on this page.

I’m wondering why THS has not sent out an email to all members about this. It’s extremely irresponsible for THS to not be keeping members informed of the issue and what’s being done about it.

Thank you @Sam_F

I just would like to request for THS to publish a transparent report about this incident and the implications for members information. I believe this is a legal requirement in these circumstances.

I appreciate measures might be put in place to prevent this happening in future, but we need to know how exposed our personal information has become.

I understand as @pietkuip mentions, that id information is stored elsewhere, but we need to know with clarity if this was also at risk as well as our other personal details.

By this time, it would be welcome and necessary that communication from THS is sent to members with clear and transparent information about what information has been accessed, by whom, and what measures have been put in place to minimise damage.

I believe THS will also be responsible for ensuring that if any harm comes from this economical or otherwise, that they will cover it.

When my pension system was hacked, they offered a free service via another company to check if our details had been stored elsewhere illegally. I would suggest something of this kind at least.

Thank you

Elena
