We’ve completed plenty of Canadian housesits, indeed starting another batch in a month or so. Yay.
We’ve never had reason to call the THS Vet helpline. But reading related webpages on THS website then we don’t see any reference to geographic exclusions.
Suggest contact THS again. iOS app - vet helpline - call helpline. Or via emegency line on website. Suspect that you were misinformed. But please let us know as this limitation, if true, would be impactful to plenty of folks on THS Forum.
Not sure how someone’s chosen a best answer - possibly you or I clicked it by accident - but I can remove it for you until there’s a solution that works for you.
Where did you get the phone number to call? I presume there are different ones depending on the country you are in. On the THS site it is said to get the number from your profile home page. When I look at my home page I get a 1-866 number which would be ok for Canada. However there is a number given as an example in the help pages that starts with +44 so I guess the number is country specific. So maybe you tried calling the wrong number for Canada?
The only numbers I could find (with some annoying, circular redirects) were the +44 number and 866-880-4829. The 866 number is the one identified as appropriate for me, and arrives to the UK.
I called it again today, to seek answers to this issue. The person said that perhaps I should be calling a USA number. I asked her if there WAS a USA number, as this is the number I was given. She didn’t know.
She gave me a number for customer service “admin” inquiries: 855-702-2702. I called it, and it identified itself as the line to call for urgent enquiries. I waited on hold for a fair bit, then a message came up for me to leave a message and there was a familar recording tone.
i left a message and am still waiting for a reply (30 min ago).
I may have hit “solved” accidentally whrn i was trying to figure out how to reply to @GotYourBack. Hitting the reply arrow took me to a pop up asking to delete my comment. I was not able to reply for about 15 minutes after the post was live and receiving replies.
