Whitby travel notes

We will be doing our 11th and last UK sit in Whitby 17-27 March 2023 if anyone is free to meet up for a cuppa or a wine. We won’t have a car though so can only meet up in Whitby.

@Crookie I have been to Whitby Bay a couple of times, makes me think of the UK  I hope you get some members that are available to meet!

@Crookie I grew up in York so Whitby was one of the seaside towns we would regularly visit. A lovely place to finish off your UK housesitting tour, and a great place to visit for a meetup. However I now live in Gloucestershire so won’t be able to join you. Hope there are some other members who can, and look forward to seeing some photos from Whitby.

Hi @Crookie would you like to meet up somewhere in Whitby with us for a drink/bite to eat this Saturday (25th) late afternoon or evening? Or if it suits you better we could also do Sunday? :slightly_smiling_face:

Love Whitby. Growing up in York it was a usual day trip as a young kid then for a few years my parents had a static caravan just outside Whitby so many weekends over the warmer months spent there and Robin Hoods Bay!
Have fun @Crookie.

@richten1 it’s so pretty here. Today we caught the bus to Robin Hood’s Bay & it was so lovely, as is Staithes to the north of Whitby

@Crookie it is beautiful all along there. Some great walks, beaches and small seaside towns and villages.

@Crookie @richten1 Also Goathland is so pretty, it has a station there on the steam-operated North Yorkshire Moors Railway line and of course the TV series Heartbeat was also filmed here. :movie_camera:

@Crookie Ah, Staithes! I stayed there on a school residential trip, rather a lot of years ago!

I wish I was!
I have been to the Magpie Cafe on two trips in 2013 and 2015 and definitely would return!

I feel like reading Dracula now.

@Debbie I’m sure it still looks the same as it probably hasn’t changed in the last 100+ years

It was great fun meeting up :slightly_smiling_face:

This is a photo from The Whitby Guide on Instagram of the Northern Lights taken from the famous 199 steps in Whitby the night before last… incredible!

A photo I took looking down on Whitby on Friday late afternoon.

It was a lovely meetup @Samox24. Thank you both for making the 4 hour drive for drinks & dinner. You will do well in Australia as that’s a short drive for us!

We have really enjoyed our time in Whitby, it’s a beautiful part of the UK with a lot to see (and eat and drink and shop…)
