I’ve invited a few sitters for a future stay. For one reason or another they are not available or are not interested. I would like to hide them from my sitter search so I don’t accidentally contact them again. Is there a way to do that?
Unfortunately not @RLGM but it would be a very useful feature to be developed!
Welcome to forum @RLGM !
Have you tried to take a look at sitters that have favorited your listing? If they haven’t shown any interest in your listing before it is hit and miss.
The usual way to go forward is for a host to publish dates so interested sitters can apply. Inviting sitters is usually not successful (unless you have already had a sit and both of you would like a repeat).
@RLGM, fair cop. Hiding people (effectively a blacklist function) would be useful both ways. Completely understand your Pet Parent perspective. As a housesitter then some sit opportunities are undesirable - say poor fit; endless re-listings; or otherwise. Would be great to blacklist them too. To my knowledge then no such feature exists. So we just quickly skip over them. Guess that’s your only option too.
@RLGM THS used to provide labels we could apply to inbox messages which would have suited your purpose. However, that feature was disposed of in the revamp of the Inbox which was a disappointment to those who used them.
I would like the same feature to hide listings. Some I’m not interested but don’t remember a week later and click on it again. Others I apply and get rejected and six months later I can’t remember if I applied prior.
I would like to hide potential housesits from searches, too. Sometimes after reviewing a homeowner’s posting I know that there is zero chance I will ever apply to sit with them. Sometimes it is because of the location, sometimes I can tell from the photos that the house won’t work for me, sometimes prior reviews raised too many red flags or whatever. Even if we could just hide them for, say, 3-6 months, that would make the process so much more streamlined.
I also wish there were a default search page. I will never, ever sit for a dog, livestock, or horses - I know nothing about those animals and would not wish to inflict myself on those pet parents or their pets. But every time I log on to the site I am shown “recommended sits” with those animals. It can’t be that hard to program landing page preferences. And why I am constantly recommended sits for animals for which I have zero experience, I have no idea.
And yes, this probably belongs in another thread, but I sure wish the site would stop presenting sits to me as recommended when the dates conflict with a sit I’ve already confirmed. They clearly KNOW this, since they won’t let me apply for those dates once I’ve reviewed the listing. But why show them to me then? Or can’t they at least be shown as “sits that won’t work for your schedule”, in case I want to
